After much hewing and hawing (translation: revisiting this post every day for updates from our brave volunteer testers ;D), I finally mustered the courage to get myself this much ballyhooed BD player from the cd-r king outlet in Trinoma this past afternoon. Oh, and my PS3 YLOD'd on me a week or two ago, so I really needed a player in my room :-[

Anyway, I brought a couple of Region A titles (Avatar, The Thing) with me for in-store testing; they took awhile to get started (a little under a minute) but then again so do they on my then-working PS3 and our Samsung BDP in the living room, so no problem there. After DVD playback on my copies of Saving Private Ryan (R1) and Jaws (R3) went without a hitch as well, I finally relented and coughed out the P3,990.

Will be posting pics and impressions as I torture test this little baby before the end of the 7-day return period - starting tonight, with Inglorious Basterds and, time allowing, The Day After Tomorrow ;D

Guess what? Nearly 19 months on, and my cd-r king BDP is still going STRONG! :-D :-D :-D

The BDP-160. Originally priced at P3,990; presumably cheaper now that other models and brands (ie Memorex) have already been introduced since.

hey folks does it really play well on 24p materials? as you know this is the most important aspect of a bluray player say i care much less those pathetic usb ports availability or questions that ask "does it play video files coming from usb thumb drive?" a bluray player is only one thing u wanna do that is to play bluray disc and nothing else. so i ask again does it play well on 24p materials?

I'm planning to buy this in some years. Does it upconverts DVDs to 1080p flawlessly?

My BDP-160 upconverts but it also depends on the DVD source material. I hope some of the masters can give more advice. To me the image quality is "just OK".

Ano ba mas magandang bilhin, yung MEMOREX MVBD2520 or yung CD-R King BDP-190? Both Php2,990 kasi and I don't know alin mas maganda sa dalawa.

Thanks!

Absolutely no regrets!

Wala pa naman. Ano ibig mo sabihin? Nagpapakita yung red circle na may slash? Hindi ka maka-navigate sa normal BD menus?

oo, eh. pero okay na. had to take out the batteries and pressed the start button to restart it. nawirdohan ako kasi pati yung remote ng tv ay nag-a-act out. parang may conspiracy na nagaganap! i've searched online and found out that remotes tend to get "confused" at times.
Absolutely no regrets!

HELP!!!

I was checking my Criterion Blu-ray of Hidden Fortress and as it was playing, my CDR-KING Blu-ray player (around 3 or 4 years old) puttered out. It keeps booting up again and again but does not go. I could not get the disc out. If there's anyone out there who knows the problem, LET ME KNOW ASAP!

Thank you.

You need to open the top cover of the player. You will see the disc mechanism top cover. Remove it and you get the disc.

Kumusta na mga ka-bluray player?  ;D

Update lang. Yung binili ko na CDR-King bluray player nung 2011 (model BDP-180) bumigay na around 2021-22. Kept ejecting the disc randomly.

I think more than a decade's worth of service for something that cost around P4,000 is enough to be called a good investment.  :D
