Person of Interest
« on: May 19, 2011 at 08:04 AM »

CBS released its official synopsis for Person of Interest, an upcoming crime thriller series for this Fall:

Quote
PERSON OF INTEREST stars Jim Caviezel, Emmy Award winner Michael Emerson and Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson in a crime thriller about a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. Reese's (Caviezel) special training in covert operations appeals to Finch (Emerson), a software genius who invented a program that uses pattern recognition to identify people about to be involved in violent crimes.

Using state-of-the-art surveillance technology, the two work outside of the law using Reese's adept skills and Finch's unlimited wealth to unravel the mystery of the person of interest and stop the crime before it happens. Reese's actions catch the attention of the NYPD, including homicide detective Carter (Henson), and Fusco (Kevin Chapman), a cop who Reese uses to his advantage. With infinite crimes to investigate, Reese and Finch find that the right person, with the right information, at the right time, can change everything. Emmy Award winners J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Lost), Academy Award nominee Jonathan Nolan (Memento), David Semel (Heroes) and Greg Plageman (Cold Case) are the executive producers for Warner Bros. Television.

episode 1 is out already.. it's good.. the tone actually reminds me of the Bourne series.. not much screen time yet for Taraji P. Henson, but Jesus Christ and Ben Linus work well together.. this is the 2nd new show I'm actually going to follow this season..

Saw the pilot earlier--it was very good, somewhat like Minority Report and Eagle Eye meets The Equalizer, except that there are less gadgets and the "clients" have no idea they're being watched.

Ben Linus can do no wrong every time he's onscreen, heh. Jesus maybe needs to put on a disguise (his homeless person look, perhaps) every time he walks on the street carrying a huge gun, as pretty soon everyone will recognize him. But I liked the fact that he avoided killing just anyone with his shots, which were mostly leg and knee shots, and only targeted the ones who deserved it.

Nolan and Abrams delivered in the pilot, effectively setting up the premise--consider me hooked.

This show is growing on me, this after seeing the best episode..the 5th....Vigilante show feels like Nolan's Batman to me.  The wheels of Reese operations grew on the last episode.... A judge joins the dirty cop..as accomplices.

This actually reminds me of the Batman dynamic. Jesus is Bruce and Linus is Alfred. I just kept thinking "Jesus Christ would make a great Batman..." and he's a vigilante who works in the background employing seedy contacts, as well.

Batman vibe notwithstanding, I'm hooked on this show. Loved the first 4 episodes I've seen so far.

Fifth was very good.  No stale part...action picked up too...reminded me of Bourne-style moves.

I think that shouldn't be taken as a compliment, hehe  ;D  There are no terrible shaky-cam action sequences and action-for-action's-sake in this series, yet.

EP6 might be the best episode for me yet.  Hoping that Paige Turco is a recurring character. Great chemistry with Jim Caviezel.

Michael Emerson. Jim Caviezel. Taraji P. Henson. Now Enrico Colantoni. That's excellent casting.

Amy Acker as Root is brilliant casting. I loved the first 2 episodes of season 2. It gave us a back story on Finch and the machine. It also set up the new season nicely. I especially liked the reference to Flowers for Algernon in the latest episode. Given the back story on the season premiere, it could be a foreshadowing for the machine.

i guess you're right. if it would make things better then why not prevent the "bad things" from happening.

regarding sa paglabas ng numbers, yun bang lumalabas eh, yun yung pinaka-dangerous that needs immediate
response from Mr Reese? if i remember it right may work board si Finch on the earlier episodes na may photos of victims/suspects with their corresponding numbers. or its just random number of irrelevants? regardless if it needs immediate help or not.

parang pagkaintindi ko is, yung pinaka soonest na mangyayari ay yung ilalabas ng computer.. kumbaga, the more latest irrelevant threat that needs to be addressed immediately...

Ako rin. I can't remember if the acronym was ever spelled out but, it seems to just allude to the normal "Human Resources" of any company. In this case, the system by which the police chooses which corrupt cops get to be included in their "inner circle."

No, Elias is not part of HR. He has his own gang group.
