Recommend a good power amp
« on: Oct 01, 2011 at 02:42 AM »
Sirs, can you recommend a good 2CH power amp?
Currently using BADA right now but would like to upgrade to one that can deliver more power?

TIA

it's easy to recommend a brand or model but you need to specify either music or HT application and other gears around it, esp. speakers.

If DIY products are acceptable for you, I would recommend Gainclones.  You can get them from one of our DIY member here, Jojod818.  You also need to tell him if you have an existing preamp or not so he can customize according to your needs.

I am a gainclone user and this power amplifier have driven most speakers and have matched most preamplifiers.

Depending on the drivability of your speakers you either will need the gainclone or the babyG. Check muna if someone is selling a preowned unit. Otherwise you need to beg Jojo. Hehehe.

That's a tight budget for a power amp. Look at used units, or PA amps if you're just after more power.

Check out the 2 channel receivers /  Integrated of Rotel, HK or Marantz. Not sure what power requirements you need, but these are from 40 to 100 watts per channel depending on the model

OOPS  my bad.. power amp pala..ignore above post.

I got 2 units of pre-owned Parasound HCA-1200 mkII in the marketplace before at 18k each.
This is a 2-channel power amp @ 200wpc.

Night and day ang improvement compared sa A/V Receiver alone  ;)

if you expect more power I doubt kung may mabibili kang 2 channel amps na maganda with that price range. maganda ang performance at circuit quality at hindi sa porma.  today 2 yrs old amp nag-uupisa na magloko. kaya 2nd hand amp with that price range maybe the best.

Pre-owned is OK as long as it has a good build.
