I didn't say that the back injury of Howard diminishes altogether what he has achieved. It's just one of the things that teams have to look out when trading for him. The most important issues here would be his inability to lead a team as proven by his track record, being the main catalyst in firing a coach and of course being a locker room distraction with all his antics...in short he can destroy a team rather than uplift it to a championship.

If he gets traded to another team this year what's the assurance of that team that he will sign a long term contract? Nada. The guy could just disappear after this year is over. They could have just possibly given away 5 to 6 players for a short term rental therefore tanking the teams immediate future. This brouhaha will again materialize after the 2013 season.

If you are a GM will you trade for him? If yes then good luck to you.

The criticism of a player's inability to lead a team can be addressed to just about any superstar who's been in the league for a while and hasn't won a title (Deron=coach killer, Melo=leadership issues etc). Same with character, injury, and other issues. They're there if you nitpick hard enough. It doesn't mean that they're not worth trading for.

Even Olajuwon had somewhat similar issues as Dwight (asking for trades, even suspended for faking injuries) yet he won two titles with the Rockets after the debacle.

Well he already said that he would re-sign with Brooklyn. As for the Lakers, Bynum is also expiring. Where's the assurance that he's not gonna bolt next year?

If you are a GM will you trade for him? If yes then good luck to you.
Luck, everyone needs it.

Wow ..... the LAKERS strikes silent & fast by trading for Steve Nash.

The LAKERS only gave up future picks ...... which almost always aren't high picks, since the LAKERS are always in contention.

Nash will make far less with the LAKERS compared to the huge offer by the RAPTORS ...... however, the LAKERS will give him a decent shot at the championship.

===========================================================================

The question now, who'll backup Nash at PG ........ Sessions seems to be going some place else.

Also, if a young Sessions got eaten alive by Westbrook ...... makes you think what the LAKERS can do when they get matched-up again with OKC.

LAKERS need to get that solid back-up PG fast.

Two year window at the most.

Despite the defensive deficiency of Nash, who Laker fan wouldnt get excited.   If he elevated the games of average NBA players in Phoenix.......what would he do with weapons like Kobe, Gasol and Bynum??

Its showtime!!!  :D :D

The KNICKS were reported to approve trading Schumpert (plus picks) for a sign-and-trade deal with the SUNS for Steve Nash.

This would have been the better deal for them, compared the recent trade with the LAKERS.

When healthy, Schumpert has the potential to be a starting SG (he's a decent 2-way SG) .... something that the SUNS badly need, since their Eric Gordon max offer will obviously be matched by the HORNETS.

Nash wanted to have a short four hour flight from his children in his Phoenix home....one of the major factors in his decision.

Wonder if LA is done dealing   ??? Assuming they are, looks like Laker management is giving Kobe one final send-off with Nash and Gasol before they really start to rebuild. Hope Stern doesn't veto this again for basketball reasons.

We deserve better.

LA retirement home??   Nash also recruiting Grant Hill to come with him.   Hill just went to Germany to have the same procedure Kobe went into.

OK still waiting for Sterns to void the deal due to basketball reasons.  hehe

Lakers could had CP3 last year, but this aint bad at all.   Nash was the assist leader last year, terrifc 3pt shooter.....and Lakers got to keep Gasol.

Nash running the point for the Lakers, Gasol (and Bynum) will be biggest beneficiary.  Remember how Gortat became a top scorer for the Suns with Nash around.

Just realized that LA upgraded their PG with another STEVE  ;D Coach Brown will probably call Nash "Steve 1" while Blake will be "Steve 2".

How do the Lakers do it??

They strike silent....but fast.

They surprised with the O'Neal free agent signing.

They got Pau for Kwame.

And now they signed Nash without effective talent letting out the door.

With Nash, Mike Brown now has to effectively go back to square one with his plays in order to maximize Nash's talents.  Unless the Lakers took Nash to be simply a spot up shooter.

Kobe likewise has to adjust his game now as Nash would be handling the ball 90% of the time.
