Depende kung anong inputs available ang receiver mo.

Honestly, i'm not familiar with the interconnects. Pero all i know is dapat malaman mo din kung ano ang available outputs ng bluray player mo. The most common is HDMI (High Def. Multimedia Interface) for audio/video. Masmaganda into kasi digital signalas na ang ginagamit. Meron din digital coax and toslink for audio.

Iba iba kasing players and receivers, iba iba din ang gamit. Of course the higher the model of your gear, mas-complete though may mga HTib din na may HDMI, digital input and output.

checked jamo's website and nakita ko po na wala sya HDMI in so i assume it's out. ang meron lang po are coaxial and optical inputs plus the composite aux in. will this suffice for both blu ray player's video and audio? thanks uli.

Yan din ang problem ko sa HTib ko. Walang HDMI input. Pero, you can connect the HDMI directly to your monitor and the audio signal via digital interconnects of your bluray plasyer to your receiver. Assuming na may digital output din ang player mo.

You can also use the RCAs pero most of the time, masmaganda ang digital signals for transferring data. Let your gears decode it. Sa RCAs kasi, may tendency na magka-loss kasi analog signal.

Is the Samsung z2200 still the best low cost HTIB?

Im looking for sub P10K HTIB that that will allow direct  connection with my Xtreamer  and play DTS sound.
Im not looking for anything fancy, but something decent for a medium size room.

Id appreciate any suggestions!

its crap... i had mine and i wanted to throw it out in the trashcan after 2 days of listening to it.. ansama ng sound quality, the speakers sounded so bad i wanted to smash it with a hammer.. and to think samsung misleadedly advertised it as a 850w system...

The Z220 is pretty decent for the price, when used for movies or Xbox 360. Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 surround effects work pretty well. If you're not used to high-end audio gear, or simply can't afford them at this time, this is a good starter system.

But also check the web for known issues about Xtreamer and optical audio connection, mentioned here: http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=109147.30

I've owned the Z220 for 2 months and just recently upgraded it's speakers to A-Audio ;D

Pwede palitan speakers ng Z220, pero matrabaho. Naka permanent connection kasi yung speaker wire sa speakers, so kailangan mo putulin, tapos ikabit sa bagong speakers. Eto yung ginawa ko for reference: http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,70456.990.html

A-Audio speakers ay DIY speakers in Anthony (diy_master). It's cheaper than branded, pero comparable ang sound quality. Yung link ko naka point din sa thread ng A-Audio, so pwede mo basahin for more info.

Kung Z-5500 naman ang papalitan mo, definitely mas madaling gawin kasi standard ang cable connectors nito sa speaker. Pero sa tingin ko eh hindi na ganun kalaki difference pag pinalitan mo lang ang speakers at same receiver pa rin. Maganda na Z-5500. Kung magu-upgrade ka, mas ok na buong set na palitan mo, meaning new receiver + speaker set. HTH.  ;D

Good Morning Sir/s, hope you find the time to entertain this noob here Smiley.

I would just like to know your inputs/advice as I am considering to purchase/use an Altec Lansing VS4121 or Altec Octane7 for a basic 2.1 speaker set-up to go with my pioneer dvd player-LG Plasma set-up.

I understand that originally these are PC/Laptop/MP speakers by nature but I'm currently on a budget and considering I only plan to put them in a  small-medium sized room, I figure I won't need anything too powerful naman to fill it up with sound while watching movies.

I also know of Altec's MX and Expressionist lines which could have been more suitable for my intended use but sadly stocks here are very hard to come by plus they cost twice as much than the VS and Octane7 series. Has anyone tried using their VS or Octane7s with their DVD Players? Will there be any negative effects on the dvd-tv set-up in the long run?  Huh

Currently, I tried plugging my Creative 2.1 desktop speakers/Sub to my dvd player (via 3.5-RCA conversion cables) while my dvd's hdmi is plugged to the tv. Tried running tokyo drift's race scenes and no problems so far.

Would the experts advice against this kind of set-up? Huh What are the cons of this set-up po?
Hoping to get your inputs and suggestions mga Sir/s before I go out and purchase the VS or Octane7s. Grin

Thanks in advance. Grin

keep your current setup.  next thing i would recommend is z5500 or the 2.1 version (z2300 yata).  yes for a small and medium size room.  HTH

thanks for the quick reply Sir Ninja, will look up the alternatives you mentioned, so I take you have no issues/hesitations regarding my using of (PC-multimedia speakers by nature) as home theater speakers? Is it okay for me to assume that using this kind of set-up is okay and is not detrimental to my dvd player or tv? thanks for bearing with me on the borderline-stupid-questions, I understand that most of the forum people are more into the high-end stuff. Thanks again in advance. Great help :)

Mga Sirs. Newbie lang po ako and sobrang naaddict akong magbasa basa sa forum na ito. Ask lang sana ako ng recommended HTIB nyo for my LG LE5500. I'm leaning to get the HT805 pero sa mga nababasa ko, medyo nagloloko yung player. Humihinto daw in the middle ng Movie mapa Orig o hindi yung nakasalang. Salamat.  :)

napakingan ko ang bigger brother ng Pioneer HTZ180DVD the Pioneer HTZ 202. okay naman yung sound quality ng Pioneer HTZ 202, more on bass sya and weak for dialogue so it will do well for movies like Transformers, anything with explosion and action. I guess you can't go wrong with the lower end pioneer HTIB.

we have the new harman kardon sb16 in the shop. it's quite amazing as it uses a 10 inch 200 watt wireless subwoofer. you guys have got to try it out. :)

interested parties can reach me at 0917-3273083 or 216-1948. :)

harman kardon® SB 16 At A Glance:

Stylish, sleek 2.1-channel soundbar speaker
Wireless subwoofer
3-D virtual surround processing
Optical and coaxial digital input connections
Works with your TV remote
Magnetically shielded speakers in the soundbar and subwoofer
Dual-position EQ switch
Soundbar trim switch
Music sense switching
Subwoofer volume, crossover and phase controls
Wireless code switches
Wall-mounting hardware for soundbar
Energy-saving features
Give your TV a stylish complement.

Designed to fit elegantly alongside your flat-panel TV – or wherever you’d like using the included mounting hardware – the SB 16 soundbar speaker is a sleek 2.1-channel system housing left and right speakers with built-in amplifiers. Thanks to digital signal processing (DSP) with virtual 3-D surround circuitry, the soundbar is a classic overachiever that skillfully works in tandem with a wireless subwoofer to transform the flat sound of your TV into a complete surround-sound experience. And the best part? You won’t need any extra speakers. Simply plug the SB 16 into your TV, DVD or gaming console, and let the exceptional audio begin.

A wireless subwoofer you can put anywhere.

With a grand total of zero wires and connections going into the soundbar, the SB 16’s wireless subwoofer offers you unprecedented flexibility in terms of placement. With a 10-inch (250mm) magnetically shielded woofer and built-in 100-watt amplifier, the wireless subwoofer delivers an impactful one-two bass punch when combined with the soundbar speaker. And thanks to a down-firing bass-reflex enclosure, you can also expect more realistic bass performance and higher bass output, since the subwoofer loads against the floor instead of against surrounding walls.

Impressive 3-D virtual surround processing.

Whether you’re watching a sitcom or a blockbuster movie, you always want to feel like part of the action developing on screen. That’s why the SB 16 produces a complete 3-D virtual surround-sound experience for anyone sitting in front of the soundbar. Bring home a rich, full-bodied theatrical experience without having to add a bunch of extra speakers – or merely give another level of depth to traditional stereo playback. It’s your choice. Just prepare to be impressed.

Receive lots of input (digital and analog) from multiple sources.

Since it comes with optical digital, coaxial digital and analog input connections, the SB 16 gives you the flexibility to run several different kinds of systems. Play your TV, DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ player, and satellite or cable tuner with your soundbar – without having to unplug wires every time you change systems. Optical digital and coaxial digital inputs also let you avoid unnecessary electrical connections, so you can experience better sound and image with less signal corrosion over time.

Easy pairing with your TV remote.

Simplify your life: Direct your entire home theater system with one easy-to-use remote control. The SB 16 soundbar is compatible with, and easily programmed to respond to, your TV remote control’s power, volume and input commands. This benefit eliminates yet another remote from that mounting pile on your coffee table. To get the best audio performance out of your SB 16 system, it’s recommended that you switch off the sound coming from the TV’s loudspeakers. (You can do it by using the audio-setup menu on most current flat-panel TVs.)

Please recommend a decent but cheap (very) 5.1 HTiB with DTS/Dolby capability and Optical in?  Yung compact lang ang speakers since wala ng space sa TV stand ko.  Maski pre-owned but in good condition.   Di naman ako masyadong maselan and sa small room lang gagamitin.  I used to do away with a small Altec Lansing 2.1 with my Devant LCD connected through the headphone jack.  But when I upgraded my TV to a 32" LG LCD parang bitin ang tunog.

Hi! Newbie here and looking for suggestions for a 5.1 HTiB for my bedroom. Medium size bedroom lang of 30 square meters (5 meters x 6 meters). Since it's a bedroom, I would prefer smaller/compact speakers. Will mainly be used for watching HD movies and sports. Receiver needs multiple HDMI inputs for BD player and Digibox.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
