Hi just a newbie here, Im planning to buy a generic player. Madami na din me nabasa about sa mga brands under this category. Can anyone help me decide, which brand to buy, where, and how much. Ive read some about Nextbase, Xenon, Kebao and promac. Whats the latest on thier model(name) and also please include the price. Thanks.

From users' experience, you can never go wrong with Nextbase 783/785.

Hi Leanzki!

Just like you I was also confused before as to what generic players should I buy. But through the threads that Ive read on generic dvd players forum - I finally settled for one - KEBAO 6089. For one thing, Kebao 6089 has a built-in DD/DTS decoder which Im very much particular with. I bought this at NMB Mktg in RAON for Php3,400. With 3 months replacement warranty.

SKYWORTH pre.

3700 din bili ko s Upscale Audio. But I know it will be cheaper at Quiapo. And you know what? May Dolby Digital Built-in Decoder, Progressive Scan Output, Multi-region and the best thing is 1 YEAR WARRANTY. Try to consider this brand.

And one more thing aside from the 3months replacement warranty that NMB is giving - the unit also has 2 years LIFETIME SERVICE WARRANTY on parts and labor which is also one of the reason why I decided na bumili sa NMB kc sila lng nag-ooffer ng ganun.

I'm also planning to buy a new generic dvd player soon. It's become very confusing with different people recommending different models for different reasons.

Here's some stuff I heard:

Nextbase is good for reliability, readability and looks daw but the newer models overheat easily.
Extreme is supposed to be a Nextbase clone, and has the same advantages as the abovementioned with less of an overheating problem.
Skyworth is progressive scan but is a bit more choosy with discs compared to Nextbase and Extreme.

So what's true and what's not? Which specific player and model rules them all at the moment?

I need a player that isn't choosy with DVDs and CDs, one that can play as many discs as you can throw at it, orig, bootleg or burned.
Built-in PAL/NTSC conversion, JPEG viewing, MP3 playing, and volume control (on the remote) are musts.
DTS decoding isn't very important.
HDCD compatibilty would be a very welcome feature.
Good after-sale service.

I wonder if the Denca player that was mentioned here in another thread can really play Divx files, and if it's an okay player otherwise. That's a feature I'd really find useful!

Hi guys, first thaks to you all for informative help.

Sir pinoycoolwacky thanks sa address ng NMB. I just bought my Kebao8089 at NMB Mktg. Also met Nelson there. Ok para sakin yung looks ng 8089, soft touch yung controls sa panel. After I came home and did some testing, wala pa akong nakitang problema dito. Also it reads all the dvd that my pioneer doesnt. Ask ko nga din yung saleslady bakit walang fan, wala na daw pero heatsink meron. After 5 hrs of watching no problem encountered, also di sya uminit. Hope nothing bad hppen.

Also need some help, because the firsttime Ive use it the movie was seen black and white, when I use component connection, correct me if im wrong yun yung Yv, Cr, Cb connection. But when I transffered the Yv to video (in my tv) colored na sya. Tama ba yun or may problem sa connection or sa unit.

Generally mag babasa ng DVD-R ang mga DVD players that manufactured since 2001.

So far, only Philips 642K reads MPEG-4 and DivX.

I bought my kebao for 3,700 and I dont know if it can play SACD and HDCD(wala pa kasi akong ganung mga CD), Saan ba nakakabili ng ganun para matry ko din.

Both have the same firmware, the main difference is the external looks.

Have caution about Nextbase 785/783 models... some do not have optical out connection (if it is necessary to you)

from my experience with various players..it is still the nextbase slim 9000-315 kaso wala na ito..yung mga bago sadly madaling masira o mapili... if your budget is 3500 up you can easily add a little and go for branded players like philips..but if your budget is 2500 down..i suggest you add a little to that since most in that category is a gamble...

Thnaks p.dividdy! Just got my new player a Skyworth 2650. I tested the nextbase 785 ba yun basta isa sa mga latest model nila di nabasa lahat ng dala kong test cds and dvds. I also tried 3 different models of skyworth model 2650 talaga ang the best in terms of readability lahat nabasa kahanga hanga! He he! Kaya yun na lang kinuha ko lahat kinakain. Update ko lang kayo mga bro. I saw sa isang post dito about Ichiban dvd player na fastest selling daw sa hk ba o japan. I saw one in festival mall shopwise for 2999 and lahat din ng dala ko nabasa niya. Baka meron kayo dyan ng ganitong player reviews naman. Thanks!

Ichiban DVD player are made in Singapore (not china). I bought 3 sets of model DVD-M888 (1 for my bro, 1 for my in-law and 1 for my projector), all are in still in good working condition and almost two years in use. Here's what I posted long time back.
