DVD setup
« on: Feb 23, 2006 at 05:12 PM »
Anybody can help me setting up my DVD Player(Pioneer) with my HK avr235?
Don’t know what to select the proper setup :

Digital Audio out settings           Options

Digital out                                     on
                                                  off

Dolby Digital out                          Dolby Digital
                                                  Dolby Digital > PCM

DTS out                                      DTS
                                                     off

96 kHz PCM out                            96kHz > 48kHz
                                                96kHz

MPEG out                                  MPEG > PCM
                                                MPEG

Thanks in advance…

Digital out: ON (especially if you are using digital connection: coax or optical)

DD out: Dolby Digital (so no downconversion to PCM)

DTS out: DTS (if your receiver supports DTS)

96Khz PCM out: 96Khz (if you receivers support 96Khz, so it wont downsample to 48Khz)

MPEG out: MPEG > PCM (since I think your receiver does not support MPEG-Audio)

MPEG-Audio is a compressed audio format upto 8 channels (like Dolby, another form of MPEG compressed audio). Has upto 756Kbps data rate, 48khz sampling freq and upto 20bit of resolution.

Your HK 235 supports 96Khz digital signal, actually hanggang 192Khz pa kasi ang DAC nya is 192/24. However, not all DVD player is nag ooutput ng 96Khz though digital because of the content protection.

Magagamit mo ang 96Khz sa receiver po, pag may DVD-Audio ka na mya encoding ng 96Khz audio without protectin (meaning inaalow ng DVD-A player at DVD-A media na mag out ng 96Khz sampling freq).

FYR. CD audio in general has 16-bit (sometimes upto 24bit), 44.1Khz; DVD-video audio (LPCM) in generally 20bit, 48Khz, some DVD has higher resolution of 24-bit/ 96Khz. DVD-A is capable upto 24bit/192Khz.

The player must have a DTS logo.  The DTS logo comes in two types, one that has a built-in decoder and one that simply passes the DTS stream to its digital output so your DTS-enabled receiver can process it.  Without the DTS logo, the player won't recognize the DTS data.

Digital out: ON (especially if you are using digital connection: coax or optical)

DD out: Dolby Digital (so no downconversion to PCM)

DTS out: DTS (if your receiver supports DTS)

96Khz PCM out: 96Khz (if you receivers support 96Khz, so it wont downsample to 48Khz)

sir pag analog connection using rca cables makakakuha pa rin daw ng DD/dolby basta ung source mo eh may DTS/dvd decoder?

MPEG out: MPEG > PCM (since I think your receiver does not support MPEG-Audio)
