Yung front palang speaker is a vintage diatone ds-211 3 way. What is the best manual cut-off setting para sa front speaker coming from full-range? TIA.

mga sir na naka 608, sulit ba talaga sa actual use yan model na yan? Hirap pala magdecide sa first receiver. nagstart yung budget ko sa pio 520, then stretch a bit sa 820 and onkyo 508. But now it seems all roads lead to onkyo 608...stretch na naman. I just want all your expert opinion before i buy something dat is relatively new stuff and expensive for a newb like me. Sana makatulong kayo kasi gusto ko na rin maka move on sa receiver.salamat in advance

Yes the 608 is worth it. When I changed my HT system I was first deciding between Denon 1611 and Onkyo 508. The salesman told me that the Onkyo was better. I chose the Denon instead. When I got home I found the Denon lacking in power. So the next day I went back and exchanged it for the 608 since it had more watts compared to the 508 and 1611. The Onkyo is a bit harder to configure compared to the Denon and I also prefer Denon's aesthetics. However the power and sound improved by a lot when I got the 608.

I appreciate your comment sir. I'm just afraid na hindi ko maharness yung full potential ng 608 because im still a dummy about receivers and speakers. Baka magtunog entry level lang yung 608 sakin, at masayang lang dahil hindi pa ako marunong  mag calliberate and mag tweak ng sound nya.

onkyo receivers are easy to configure, just read the manual if you get lost.  :)
it is 100x easier to configure, compared to denon receivers  :D

It took me close to 2 hours to figure out why my no sound or video was coming out of my 608, it's because you have to configure the inputs on the On-screen Menu. With the Denon that I later exchanged, after I plugged in the inputs everything worked without having to dive into the menu. But no regrets, I still chose Onkyo over the Denon and it would still be my choice if I had to do it all over again.

I think the only problem with the 608, as reported in various US internet sites is the video bug which seemingly not one user here ever experience it yet. Other than that the 608 is adjudged by many as the best as compared with other receivers in the same category like when compared with the pio 920 or denon 1911. After all my research and readings, I finally have closed the deal with the remaining unit of 608 from avshop.  ;D

Jerix you'd better listen closely sa music signature ng 1911 and 608 before making a final decision..and ang convenient ng USB connectivity ng 1911.

Bro, you are right. LR is selling it for a sligghtly higher price than you said-P30600.too bad they ran out of stock today, but i had a 608 reserved for pick up tommorw afternoon. I guess this is it, my first ever receiver will be an onkyo 608. Thanks to everyone who made their inputs. definitely helped me decide. My next concern now are the speakers to pair it with. I prefer bookshelf type muna because of budget constraints.

Yup -- ive been reading reviews about the 1911 and the two sides of my mind are now debating heavily. The better sound quality of the denon or the abundant features of the onkyo.  ::)

Onkyo 608 has more power than the Denon 1911. Just look at the power consumption 630 watts for the Onkyo and only 460 watts for the Denon. The amp that consumes more power will also output more power to the speakers. Denon has the better Audyssey implementation but the Onkyo has THX certification.

For a comparison check out this What HiFi review:
