i'm not sure tho if this is really divx certified... because the mods didn't comment on it. (or at least, when i last read they didn't. baka meron na by now.)

I have this player and I'm playing DIVX files on this all the time.  I'm quite happy with it so far.

did you purchase it here or abroad? and how much did you get it for?

thanks...   ;D

I bought it at www.hkflix.com.  It's $199 + $95 fedex shipping + P3500 tax.  Total cost is P20k pesos.  It also comes with a free 6 foot DVI cable.

wow! the price almost doubled...  :o

Does this player also upconvert/upscale to 1080i using the component outputs?

Edit: Oops. Disregard the question. Just read the following from the review links:
As you can see from the Benchmark scores, the 971H is an outstanding budget DVD player. But I must advise you that the scores only pertain to the DVI output. This player’s component outputs do not support progressive playback, only 480i, so we were not able to plot a video frequency response curve. I was quite surprised, because I’ve never seen this before. The DVI video board in the player houses the Genesis FLI-2310 video processing chip, so the component video connections cannot take advantage of it.

if this is the case, then the neu neo is better in specs than the oppo. the hvd 2085 can output up to 1080p at both component and hdmi(dvi capable) outputs. It has better video dacs also rated at 16 bit 149 megahertzs. The price is just 15,500 with 1 year local warranty.

OPPO DV971H DVD player?
Anyone here tried the OPPO DV971H DVD player with DVI connection?  It has a DCDi chip inside that improves upscaling.

I am planning of buying DVD player that does have HDMI connection.
