group buy can always provide good economics because of strength in numbers ... even traders knew this ... if its 70k or effectively 64k, a group buy can even have this at 55k ... you should have a good strategy and the right people to talk to though!


I just thought you should be aware how this LCD TV price is behaving ... just like the DVD when it was introduced ... it started at 30k ... and now you can have it 3.5k branded ... with LCD TV, there is no way but to go down by way of high demand, and currently unlimited supply (because all manufacturers want to get much of the pie share) - translated to much even lower prices, more features - and expect the trend until all those CRTs have been eradicated from all houses.

vendors are trying to off-loads all those old stocks or they risk losing their big profits come new pricing scheme and new tech and exert to them so much pressure to make their pricing more reasonable for consumers!

This is exactly the plight of those plasmas when they have been challenged by LCD tech - typically just a matter of time - so do everything to market at this time while price can still command a good profit/return.

Even if this 42PV70 is out of the market, the new one will even be better - and cheaper!!!

To anyone concerned regarding the difference between the Panasonic 42PV70 and 42PV7 plasma TVs, here are my observations:

I just came from Sights & Sounds yesterday, and did a side-by-side comparison between the two models and observed their picture quality and physical appearance/built.

- In terms of features, the only difference between the two models is that the Panasonic 42PV70 has two (2) HDMI inputs versus the 42PV7's one (1) HDMI input. The other difference is that the 42PV70 has a black piano finish (only at the lower speaker portion), while the 42PV7 has a flat black finish.

- But in terms of picture quality, there was NO difference at all. Other websites claim that the 42PV7 has only 8,000:1 contrast ratio versus the 42PV70's 10,000:1, but I think it's not true. They're practically the same (brightness, color, saturation, detail). All settings in both displays we're identical and both were already properly burned-in and calibrated.
The following sources were used: Spiderman 3  (R3), Monsters Inc. (R3), Transformers (blu-ray), and their demo CD, all using 720p/1080i resolution. I wasn't able to test my R1 DVDs though (LOTR3 & Star Wars3).

But I still recommend that you see it for yourself and test both displays side-by-side for your eyes to be the judge. Smiley I'm sure either of them will do the job well.

I was in San francisco last month, so to save from US shipping, I just pick-up and inspected the TV in the Value Bros. store.

Then I had my shipper pick-up the TV from my US address to be delivered directly to my home address here in the Phil;ippines.

Shipping is by sea. So, I am already here in Bulacan but my TV has not arrived yet. Hehehe.

I am also bidding on a 58 inch Panasonic Viera. I hope I can win the item. I missed the 50 incher by only $25, it was sold at $1225 only. Sayang.
