mga bro tanong lang po noob sa home theater. just bought a 32lcd samsung, wd dvd receiver htx30 5.1 nakabundle. question, how do i get 5.1 surround sound when playing my xbox 360? tama na ba ung current setup ko na hdmi xbox sa lcd tv,, tpos ung audio out ng tv left and right nakaconnect sa aux in ng home theater 5.1... eto na ba ung best setup.. help please thanks mga sir. btw hdmi capable ung htib ko..

I suggest connect hdmi to your htib (kasi capable naman). hdmi also transmits audio... in this set up.... u need to buy another hdmi to connect your htib to your tb.... with this set up you can enjoy 1080p from xbox 360 as well as the 5.1 channel....

^^^ boss sorry I dont think this is possible.

as far as I know, having owned several HTIBs that come bundled, you can only output 5.1 from your xbox and/or ps3 if your HTIB has optical / coaxial / hdmi in.

your HTIB only has L/R aux in which is what most of them have. what you put in into the aux in of your htib will be stereo. you can make it seem like its 5.1 by picking settings on the sound menu but in reality its not.

Sir, base po kay chesizzle... hdmi capable na ang HTIB nya therefore he can connect his xbox 360 via hdmi and enjoy 5.1 channel.... tama po ba?

mga bossing, sori misleading pala ung hdmi capable.. bale ung htib ko is hdmi out lang ang meron, ang audio in is optical and ung red and white lang.. its a samsung ht-x30. bale as of now ung naririnig ko is simulated lang at hindi totoong surround? ano kaya possible remedies dito. thanks for the replys mga sir. helpful and informative tlga tong site na to.

ung xbox 360 mo ung lagay mo sa optical.true 5.1 na yan from what i know.di ko lang sure kung may optical out ang xbox360.

I suggest you use the component cables of your 360 and connect your optical cable thru this. I don't think you'll be noticing any diff sa video kasi the 360 is until 1080i/720p lang. kaya naman ng component cables yun. That way naka 5.1 na ang gaming experience mo.

i have been using this set up for close to a year now.

Hmm... Not so sure about this but AFAIK the xbox 360 is capable of 1080p.
That is of course if you've updated your xbox at least with the spring 2007 update.

i see, pero kse based on my experience iba ung dating ng hdmi compared sa component ng xbox360,, and regarding pala dun sa dashboard updates ng 360. do i still have to get mine updated even if i got the unit 1month palang and the manufacturing date is oct 31 07? thanks again guys.

i think we cannot enjoy dolby digital or dts 5.1 in 360 unless we buy hdmi cable. ito lang kasi may digital sound and video (in one cable) to feed avr/htib (with hdmi-in). in this set up you need to connect your tv to the avr/htib (with hdmi-out).

ang 360 kasi, unlike dvd players, don't have readily available digital out (coax/optical) and video out terminals, therefore it needs accessory cable that separates optical/coax connection from video connection. but i don't think meron kasi walang ganitong accessory sa xbox official website. the accessory cables available are those with analog audio output and video output (component, s-video or vga).

with regards to resolution, i agree kaya mag out ng 1080p ang 360, i think regardless of its manufacturing date. and 1080p resolution is possible if yung disc source is 1080p (such as hd dvd, in this one naman you need to buy external hd dvd player for 360). hindi kasi naguupscale ang 360.

update:
i saw accessory (not manufactured by microsoft) - cable with terminals for digital sound (optical only) and component for video... price: P495 in Datablitz.... with this we can enjoy 5.1 dts or dd from 360.... kaso optical lang.... mas prefer ko kasi coax.... sana maglabas din sila ng merong coax terminal

actually ganyan din ung ksamang cable ng xbox 360 ko. component video out na may optical terminal.. what i want sana is ikabit ung hdmi ko for video then kung may cable na pang optical out na pwedeng ikabit kasabay..

actually po tinanong ko din sa datablitz kung meron lumabas na 360 accessory cable with hdmi and extra terminal for digital audio (optical or coax)... they said wala.... which i think wala siguro kasi hdmi is already audio and video cable in one.

There are three packages sa xbox 360. 1. arcade 2. Pro 3. Elite Only the last two come with the component video out with OPTICAL out adapters for 5.1 audio.

Re HDMI with extra terminal audio, microsoft has this. It is included in the Elite package or can be bought separately.

you're right. i was referring to the Samsung pala that might not be 1080p capable. depends pala sa model.

update ko lang kyo guys napilitan akong bumili ng orig xbox 360 hdmi pack, un lang kase may audio adapter.. 2500 ouch!hehe pero enjoy pala sobra pag naka dd 5.1 ibang klase detail..

naisipan ko tuloy ikabit 360 ko to my display and receiver.... want to share my experience....

as expected it outputs 1080p via component when i played downloaded movie clips, game trailers from xbox marketplace.... and also 1080p resolution on 360 dvd games such as fifa 08 and halo 3.... therefore do'nt have to buy hdmi....

i connected audio plugs via analog terminal of my receiver (set to dolby prologic II) and found the sound superb.... the sound is also great when i play ipod songs through 360....
