i was thinking of buying the t220hd over the 22a450 before...pero i ended up buying the a450... and i think i made the right choice.
samsung t series has the cheap tn panel (twisted nematic)...22a450 uses the same panel as the higher model samsung lcdtv...tn panel has a faster response time but viewing angle is restrictive that's why it's commonly used as pc monitor only...panget especially when you view it from below or sa side...my sister has t190 and she bought a tv box for it, hehehe ang labo ng picture whenever na manood ka na nakahiga sa bed...
i use my a450 50% as a pc monitor, sharp po siya, di blurred ...just use the right cable (ferrite core vga gamit ko), kasi walang kasamang vga cable ito unlike in t190/t220 kaya kapag gumamit ka ng cable na panget (gaya ng nabili ko sa cdrking) talagang panget! when i borrowed the supplied cable of t190 and used it with my 22a450, magic!
i checked out both the T220 and the 22a450 in Glorietta earlier today ... i don't see any difference (in comparing the 2 models) with the picture quality when viewed from different angles (including top and bottom) ... there was degradation in quality when viewed from top or bottom, but not much on the side angles - quality was basically the same for both ... what I observed is that I don't think that the 22a450 have the same panel as the bigger 4-series models - the one that I viewed in Abenson was sitting next to a 32-inch 3-series and 32-inch 4-series, and though the picture quality of the 22a450 is good, it is very noticeable that the bigger 3 and 4-series have more vibrant colors and a lot better viewing angle (including top and bottom) ... this observation was also shared by one of the customers auditioning the tv's .... another thing I can also mention is that although there is a quality degradation on both models when viewed on slightly extreme top or bottom angles, it is still a lot better on those conditions than my almost 2-year old Samsung 940BW 19-inch LCD PC monitor
this leads me to a conclusion that I'm better off with the T220 for my requirements, mainly because of the quality and the freebie (7-inch digital photo frame with 128MB memory and SD slot worth 4,990) if the only other option is the 22a450 ... by the way, they are selling the T220 at PhP 14k in Silicon Valley (cash only) in Park Square.... another thing also is that there is somewhat another advantage on the 22a450, although probably miniscule but may be important for some purist ... the 22a450 has a screen ratio of 16:9 (which is the industry standard nowadays), the T220 has 16:10 (ok by PC standards, but a little bit off the tv standard.
but there's more (parang tv shopping ... hehe) ... and this will probably wet the apetite of those targeting the 22-inch Samsung TV or are looking for a bigger tv 26 or 32-inch but still short of the budget ... there's another model on display at Silicon Valley in Park Square I'd likely choose over the T220 and 22a450 .... this is the Samsung T240HD - it is an HDTV (not HD ready only), with digital tuner, 16:9 ration, 10,000:1 contrast ratio - in summary it has the best features of the 22a450 and T220 combined and it's full HD and the bigger bang is that it has 24-inch screen size ....but wait that's not all (feeling home tv shopping talaga
) - the price is PhP 20k (cash) and if purchased on or before Dec. 31, it comes with a free Samsung S760 digital camera (7.2 MP with 2.4-inch LCD screen, worth PhP 5,990) .... subtracting the amount of the free camera, you basically get a 24-inch full HD tv at less than PhP 15k
in terms of PQ, the T240HD visibly is much better than the T220 and the 22a450
