Projector Lamp Replacement
« on: Jan 19, 2008 at 12:59 PM »
Esp. the Sony ones. If so, asan kayo bumili and how much? Sa Sony service centers here in Cebu - its expensive, like twice the price - 20k. I havent tried changing it yet but I just called for info sake.

And to those who did, how long before you have to change your lamp?

700 hours?! Dont you think thats too low? Most of Sony LCD lamps would last 8,000 hours more or less.

The lamp of the ae900 has a lifespan of 2000 hours i think. Admittedly, the brightness of the lamp decreases in time and maybe conks out before it reaches its judgment day. But 700 is still way even its 50 % lifespan.

My Samsung 61" DLP has logged almost 6,500 hours of use and the picture is already dim.   I called a Samsung technicial and he told me that I will need to replace the ballast every time I install a new lamp!

Totoo ba ito?  I'm waiting for their price quote for the parts and if the price is too high, order na lang ako sa states and replace it myself.  Do I really need to get a new ballast too?

May nakagawa na ba dito ng DIY lamp replacement?   Madami kasing guides and mukhang madali lang naman.

Magaan lang siya. It's usually just a small lamp and reflector in a bigger plastic/metal packaging. I replaced yung sa JVC HDILA in the past.

This is how it looks like:

The kit actually had instructions on how to replace the lamp. It was a very quick thing to do.

These days may mga replacement lamps that don't even include the plastic part, and are cheaper (you tear apart the old lamp assembly and replace just the lamp and reflector).

Many members here are heavy viewers and most likely, the lamp of their PJ has already reached the 1000hr mark. Since the normal max lamp life of PJ is about 2000hrs, when you reach 50% of that, you begin to think of the replacement. I am not a heavy user and since 2007 I have used only around 600+ hrs of my lamp life. But I am also very interested in knowing what to do in case my lamp expires.
