Panny PV80 Users...What are your settings
« on: Feb 05, 2009 at 01:20 PM »
Had broken in my PV80 with 200 hours of use.  Had it calibrated with a spider recently in a fairly  dark room using PS3.  The settings are as follows:

picture menu- Cinema
contrast   69
brightness  45
color  68
sharpness 53
color temp  warm
Management  ON
PN-R  Off

Had watched Indiana Jones, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and it looked very good. Have you guys calibrated after your brake in period?  What are your ideal settings for HD?

dont know what to do to calibrate it, oh and its the pv8, i think its pretty much the same except for the piano black finish, 3 hdmi connectors and the sd card slot? (correct me if im wrong)

anyways, what do we have to do to calibrate it?

im using default settings and im quite satisfied with it (specially when watching bluray discs) =)

you are pretty much correct.  PV80 and PV8 are twin brothers .

Perhaps you can Try my settings if you can not get a pro to calibrate it and you be the judge on what looks best.

Picture: Cinema

Contrast 68
Brightness 39
Color 62
Tint -1
Temp Warm
Sharpness at 47 to 49
Color management = on

My settings for my PV8/80

I'm using dannielsimone's settings for the PY800=)

Settings were done with Sights and Sounds Spyder Color Meter calibration

Why these settings may not work for you:

1) Personal preference
2) Room lighting (very important)

Anymore?

your so right.  lighting is the key for calibration and setting results.  Mine was done in a darkish room.

These are very good settings! I simply switched the color temp from warm to cool. Great for cable and PS3 gaming.

Just want to share settings from TweakTV for PX80u (I think this is the US equivalent of PV80 here)
This is for 50" (I'm currently enjoying this setting on my C50HD18)

Mode Cinema
Picture/Contrast 85
Brightness 60
Color 44
Tint -6
Sharpness 25 (i adjusted to 47)
Color Temp Warm
Color Mgt Off
Video NR Off

For 42"

Mode Cinema
Picture/Contrast 85
Brightness 58
Color 44
Tint -6
Sharpness 25
Color Temp Warm
Color Mgt Off
Video NR Off

You may search for other brands and models in tweaktv.com for US releases and some UK releases

used this settings. very good talaga even with lights off. not getting eye strain anymore as I did before using LCD. No need to ask for calibration for sights and sounds  :)

wanted to ask you guys about this "slowfast" effect that my kid bro and i came up with  :o

well, we didnt really know how to call it so we came up with "slowfast", its how we describe extreme clarity when the people on screen move on hd tv's that they look like they're moving in slow motion yet at a really fast fluid pace  ;D

do you get these from your settings? i've been getting a bit of it under the default settings but when i tweaked my settings to the ones i have above i kinda didnt see the effect before  ;)

hahaha,  ;D

well ive been noticing a lot of it on bravia x series and panny py8's whenever im looking at them at show rooms

basta its this "effect" na parang the movements are so fluid it seems na theyre moving in slowmotion yet in a fast pace, hence "slowfast"  ;D
