Will there be any release here of the 2-Disc Shake & Shimmy Edition?

Hairspray is a New Line picture, which means if it'll be released here, it'll be with C-Interactive.

I got my R1 Shake & Shimmy Edition, and wow, that's one very comprehensive 90-minute making-of documentary on disc 2. The documentary on the film's origins is also long and informative, with a lot of archival footage and spot-on interviews (with Rikki Lake, etc.). And disc 1 has a lot of features as well. Very much worth the price.

You already have a copy? Where did you get it? It isn't supposed to be released till the 20th, right?

I'd seen a C Interactive Hairspray Bag (Pink), but not the DVD... so no idea, but the bag seems to indicate it will arrive sooner than later.. Not sure if it's 2-disc though...

Yup, from a parallel importer. Normally we get the R1s here about 2 weeks before street date.

No "Melanie" scandal here, even I don't know which shop/distributor in the States my source gets the titles from.

I've been looking for it everywhere since November 21, I went to about 25 record bars and video stores but still I haven't found it. I really LOVE this movie and I really love MUSICALS now. When will this DVD be released? What is the OFFICIAL release date? If you KNOW the answers to these questions PLEASE TELL ME! I'm addicted to this movie.

Hairspray is a C Interactive release. Unfortunately, of all the local Distributors, C Interactive is the most unpredictable and one where PinoyDVD insiders have the least 'inside' info. Most C Interactive titles shows up months after their R1 release. Titles such as Nativity Story, Snakes on a Plane, and Constant Gardener arrived here 3-6 months after their R1 release. Pan's Labyrinth is still absent but is probably due soon.

The good thing with Hairspray is that C Interactive is actively promoting it (free Hairspray bag for P900 purchase of C Interactive product), so the chances are good that it will arrive much sooner than later. The Question is whether it will be the 2-disc Shake and Shimmy Edition...

If it's out it will almost be available in all the 25 video outlet you'd been to simultaneously , so if you are a suki, expect all 25 stores to offer you that DVD the next time you go there...

I saw the pink Hairspray bag on Astrovision last week but it wasn't that interesting. I asked the salesperson at Astrovision "when will the Hairspray DVD be released?" and he went to ask the manager and when he came back he told me "the DVD will be released sometime this month but the date is unknown". I really hope they release it this month and I'm pretty sure it's the "2-Disc Shake and Shimmy Edition" 'cause the ad for the DVD says it costs P900.

Saw in one of the monitors of Astro Trinoma that Hairspray is now available in Astrovision and Astroplus. When I inquired about it, they said that it's not yet available!

I told the girl that they shouldn't show the video that it's already available even if it's not, and she just gave me a blank look. Well, I guess it's just a matter of days when it'll be released. I hope that even if it's locally pressed, the DVD's gonna be in DVD9.

The DVD will be released on the 11th in Australia so there's a chance that the DVD will be released sometime around that time too. Any word if the DVD is the Single-Disc, 2-Disc Shake & Shimmy Edition or both?

I asked about hairspray sa astroplus in SM North this afternoon, they said na they booked hairspray for next week na release or something like that...

Another update -- According to Astro The Block, both the DVD and VCD will be released next week. Pero, siyempre, with C-Interactive, I'll only believe it when I see them in the display racks.

Php 695 for the 2 Disc Shake & Shimmy Edition

Php 550 for the single disc edition

Both versions have an "Imported disc" sticker.

My main complaint: The cover art of the 2-Disc Shake and Shimmy Edition is a copy of the R1... WITHOUT the transparent slipcase, so - it's practically blank orange with some silhouettes. A bit weird.

Thankfully, this release is a DVD9. Even the 2nd disc is DVD9. And a sticker indicates that it's an import, although the C-Interactive logo appears before the title menu. Anyway, the appearance of the logo is okay -- it's just short.

Haven't watched the main movie yet, but I've browsed through it (as well as the 2nd disc), and I can say that the PQ and AQ are okay.

Hairspray single disc is down to P350, while 2-disc is down to P550.

Will wait for the 2-disc price to go down even lower.

got Hairspray 2 disc from C-interactive at 399 from the Astro MOA sale. originally priced at 695 then lowered to 550 and now 399. also saw some copies from odyssey and SM department store also at the same price. don't know if this will be permanent though...
