Onkyo HD-S3300 because it's Lossless HD Audio capable and HDMI 1.4a capable.

I think the Denon comes with an active sub though, so that's a plus in terms of upgradability (there's no stopping you from hooking the onkyo's high level out to a suitable sub though).

I recently purchased the onkyo ht 3300 from ehome, and for a small room set up (my room is about 24 sq. m) it offers great sound, though its subwoofer's driver is only 6.5 so it lacks the oommph! But with its price and the receiver's specs(can decode true hd and dts master audio), you cant go wrong with it. You can always replace the 5.1 that comes with the package as the cable connectors are not proprietary, if you plan to upgrade. Besides, it is a lot less than the 390xp.

did you experince any problems so far?

It has been brought to our attention that under certain circumstances the Surround Left/Right channels of the following AV receivers may switch during playback of PCM multichanel sources.


TX-SR308, TX-SR508, HT-R380 (HT-S3300), HT-R580 (HT-S5300)


This only occurs when the audio output of the source device (e.g. Blu-ray player) is set to "multichannel PCM" mode

i am not a techie sir, so this 'switching problem' got me confused also. I dont know what is this? I dont know any store that has available demo unit, having bought this at ehome still in the box. With regards sa surrounds, i cant discern any problem as they are working properly. My xtreamer is attached to the receiver via hdmi and plug n play na lahat out of the box.
