I agree. You get less visible screen-door effect and a less reflective panel with this option (plus a larger panel and a slimmer enclosure). Of course, it's really up to the buyer to decide (some may gravitate towards the 50x30, as its predecessors have been proven "safe" buys).

Since your budget extends to 50k, have you considered getting a 3D model instead?

I tried googling crack issues on LG and Panasonic plasma screens and it looks like there are a lot of instances like these on 42 inch plasmas and above. Is this a defect on plasma's technology? I even read that a possible cause would be the sudden change in temperature. Now it's making me think twice if getting a plasma would be a good choice.      Sigh
