I don't bother with warranties. They are the most problematic feature of a product. Nice to have, but not a purchasing choice factor.
For a given budget, you get more value with 2nd hand items than the latest entry levels. Most audiophiles take good care of their gears so that when disposed off, those gears are almost like new. Find one that is just 1-2 years used or are 2-3-year old models. They'd still have the basic features of current models. Older than that, and you may have to forego with HDMI outs and some digtial processing features.
Heck, even those 30-year old Japan surplus Sansui and Kenwood amps that were high enders in their time will beat any 2012 entry level receiver and amp from Onkyo or HK for a fraction of the price.
