has anyone been able to use Wifi-N without problems viewing large mkv files?
I am thinking that our Xtreamer is not locking properly to use higher wifi-N speeds and may be defaulting into the lower speeds, similar to how this chap had to trick the use of the Xtreamer wifi-N dongle on his PC running Win7 (to achieve not just the 54mb speed level but up to excess of 105mbps)

Realtek released Softward Development Kit (SDK) Ver 2.0 which addresses the issue of Wireless-N performance. I understand there will be a big improvement in throughput when you update the Xtreamer to Firmware Ver 2.0 (slightly delayed release, but due out anytime now).
I suggest you wait just a little bit - and save yourself the time and effort in finding a work-around.
Might be of interest for you to know that the chip used in the Xtreamer USB Wireless-N Antenna is also designed and manufactured by Realtek. Who else would know better how to optimize communications between the Xtreamer and the USB Wireless-N Antenna?
Keep in mind, that the working environment (i.e. distance, obstructions, radio interference, etc.) plays a role in determining the data rate.
