HD-Pro Firmware Upgrade Wishlist
« on: Oct 07, 2009 at 02:02 PM »
To all HDPro owners:
Maybe we can make a wish list on what firmware adjustment/upgrade should be made. Please add if you have any wish list for improvement.

Firstly, I would like to say that I like most of the features of HD-Pro.

Wish List:  ;D
From ramgos:
   1. To play all types of avi files.
   2. Use of Next (>>|) or Previous buttons (|<<) in playing music or video files.
   3. Improve GUI to have longer or full title display.
From Bluebeard:
   1. Fix capability to create Playlists for Music, Photos and Videos as per manual.
   2. Fix non-functioning screensaver option.  Have menu option for #minutes/seconds before screensaver
       pop-ups.
   3. Include playability for monoaural (1ch)wave audio types (from Canon camera videos)
   4. Default for HDD format menu should be CANCEL.
   5. Improve user manual to be more user-friendly preferably with examples

My suggestions:

1. Stabilize HDMI audio and video
2. Provide an option so that the selection menu for movies has more films on one page and has smaller font so it can display a longer title (similar to eGreat)
3. Provide navigation to jump to a certain % of the file (similar to eGreat)
4. Provide keystroke shortcut to select 720p or 1080p (similar to eGreat)
5. Provide status screen (similar to eGreat)
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.

Nice sir mark, amen to this, as this is the very basic, usually accessed/used by "ordinary" /non techie user, like my dad. ;)

Francis, actually items 4 and 5 are more techie in nature. A non-technical user would just leave the output resolution untouched, no matter what the resolution of the source. The status screen, OTOH, provides very technical data.

Re streetmart's suggestions:
3. Provide navigation to jump to a certain % of the file (similar to eGreat)
Firmware Version 7.1.11 (English w/ some chinese chars) has this feature; version 7.1.10 (Pure English Menu) jumps to specific times. I like version 7.1.10

4. Provide keystroke shortcut to select 720p or 1080p (similar to eGreat)
Meron na ito via the TV System key.

5. Provide status screen (similar to eGreat)
Meron na rin ito via the INFO key

I may be mistaken but I believe items 3, 4 and 5 are already featured somewhat in the HD-Pro, probably not exactly the same as e-great but functionally very similar:
3: The search by time function allows you to jump to ANY specific time in the movie (down to the specific second, if you want), and I also see how long the movie is while doing so. Coming from WDTV, personally I find this extremely useful, in fact, probably more so than jumping to a percentage.
4: The TV system button on the remote allows you to cycle through all possible resolution outputs available to the HD-Pro from NTSC (480i) to 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p.
5. The INFO button provides information about the movie while it’s running. I don’t know if it’s exactly like the e-great, but it’s useful to me as it is.

I agree with Item 2 though.
Either they change the layout of the screen: place the preview on top, and the titles below, which will have the benefit of the entire length of the screen to display more characters.
Or, make it a choice, if the above is not possible. If you toggle Preview Off, the list will occupy the entire length of the screen, and if you toggle to Preview On, the screen is as it is right now.

P.S. Naunahan ako ni bluebeard hehe  ;D

My request is for HDPro to preview cover art and "about.jpg" inside a folder similar to Mede8er.

The "about.jpg" picture may display additional content information such as Synopsis, Cover, Rating, Year, Actors etc.

Yes just like the Xtreamer!

Learning from the Xtreamer too:

- Make 1% zooming increments for horizontal and vertical, and save setting
- Navigation use of buttons, quick jump +/1 30secs and 2-3 mins

Dagdag sa wishlist:

1. Pag yung next track ng music file ay invalid, the player should continue with the next available track. It just stops playing when it encounters an invalid file. Haven't tried this on video though.

2. I noticed that in playing music, when you press the info button, it displays the longer display of the filename. Maybe they can incorporate this also in video preview mode.

3. I dont know if this happened to any of you. When I try to shutdown the unit and turn-off the tv or switch from HDMI to TV Cable signal(in the TV remote), HDPro turns ON again. I have to turn it off one more time just to really shut it down.

4. Copying of files from one source to next is limited to 7 items only. Maybe they can make this higher? I know this might not be useful for many of you, but for me its handy to copy files without using your PC.

5. And of course, creation of playlist should not require an internal drive. And include video as well. And better yet, mix video and music in a playlist.  ;)

Yes, it does have but you still have to use your PC browser to select torrents and then it saves the file to the HDPro internal HDD. All along I thought there would be a menu in the TV to select torrents so that the PC can be turned off.

Yes, it does have but you still have to use your PC browser to select torrents and then it saves the file to the HDPro internal HDD. All along I thought there would be a menu in the TV to select torrents so that the PC can be turned off.

You would need a keyboard for that then. And probably, a mouse too.

I think they are minimizing risks of jeopardizing business by not including that feature. That might implicate copyright issues. It's like they are just giving the choice to the user but not directly doing it on their unit. I think that's the reason of other media players not including a browser app in their products.

And come to think of it, its easier to find files you need to download in a pc and then queue it on your media player overnight so your pc can rest while waiting for the download to complete.  ::)

How do you do the torrent downloading then? Where do you save it in the HD Pro? In Egreat there is a facility wherein you can see the torrents you are currently downloading the status of the download. I couldn't find a screen similar to this in HD Pro. Maybe there is but I haven't come across it yet because I just tried it last night.

Haven't tried it either. But already read the PDF instructions. You can download it at their website. Or I think someone posted the link here.

For Cinematube and other NMT's, downloading torrents are from a menu option on the unit.  HDPro requires a PC browser! Ugh!  :-\
Miight as well use a PC bittorrent program e.g. Vuze and then download the file using the HDPro Internal HDD as a slave. Much faster too.

This can be added to the next Firmware upgrade.

I dont think Cinematube has a Browser app. So you can't download without setting up the torrents on a pc first.

The cinematube 5005 user manual says otherwise. As long as you have copied the torrent in the ext harddisk you can download PC free.

Precisely, how can you get torrent files without using your browser? So its magical that torrents just pops out in cinematube? Even if you copied the torrent files from your friends, you still used a pc.
