A210

What about the A200?

So lalabas na dapat yung double-vision (overlapping) image if I play a 720p SBS with the A210 on a non-3DTV?   Sa A200 kasi, it displays side-by-side image if I play a 3D content.

Paki-clarify.  Thanks.

You will still need a 3D TV. What the firmware does is to send the proper HDMI 1.4 commands to the TV when it sends a 3dSBS.mkv so it will switch to the right mode automatically.

Are we talking a single SBS file, or, 2 (left & right) half-SBS files?

Is the A210 capable of playing 2 files simultaneously already like a stereoscopic player?

Cheers.

Single SBS files.

Sigma 8643 cannot output 2 files simultaneously.

Here's the official reply from Syabas;

Quote
Due to limitation of SMP8643 platform, it can only do half-resolution side-by-side
and top-and-bottom 3D. We added HDMI1.4 signalling to ensure that 3D-capable
TV respond accordingly, and you do not need to reach for the remote.

We will be adding support for BD25 version of 3D soon.

Syabas Is First to Implement Matroska 3D Video
« Reply #156 on: Mar 23, 2011 at 12:58 PM »
FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Syabas Technology, a leading global distributor of digital entertainment solutions, is very excited to announce that it’s the first to support Matroska 3D in its latest firmware update for both the Popcorn Hour and PopBox products. During the CES 2011 show they demoed the new 3D playback software and received great feedback from both re-sellers and existing customers.

“We took a look at the most popular playback formats and found that 3D was one of them. We put together our engineering resources and now have one of the best 3D playback devices on the market.”
A free firmware update is now available for the Popcorn Hour C-200 with the A-200/210 and PopBox version on the way. Users can now enjoy playback of 3D movie files in both stereoscopic modes. Side by Side and Top and Bottom video are now supported in a wide variety of popular containers including MK3D, MOV, MP4, and M2TS. Using HDMI 1.4 commands, playback on any 3D compatible television is now a reality.

“At Syabas it was our goal to offer our customers a better TV viewing experience and 3D brings it," said Armando Lopez VP of Strategic Product Marketing. “We took a look at the most popular playback formats and found that 3D was one of them. We put together our engineering resources and now have one of the best 3D playback devices on the market.”

The innovative Syabas products enable consumers to enjoy a wide assortment of content including, home videos, photos, personal music, movies, games and a wide range of TV apps. They have some of the most popular apps like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Revision3, Flicker, Howcast, TED, Weather Bug and many more. To complete all this we have a great user interface that aggregates all your media from any networked device anywhere in the house. Syabas continues to add value to our customer experiences and further enhance our firmware which will benefit existing and new customers alike.

"For a long time Syabas Technology has been a strong early adopter of the Matroska technology,” said Steve Lhomme of Matroska. “They have been reliable partners of our team for years. We are delighted to see them raise the bar once again with the first hardware/software support of 3D Stereoscopic Matroska files. We expect use of .mk3d (.mkv with 3D video) to increase a lot during the coming months/years and with the help of hardware partners like Syabas.”

NMJ will be easier...

Go easy first.

Get a USB flash drive and put some files in it. It DOESN'T matter if the files are real media files or not, you just want to test NMJ.

Try the following filenames on the root directory;

Avatar.2009.mkv
Outsourced.s01e01.2010.mkv

Plug it in the A210 and navigate to it using the source button on your remote and hit the red button.

You can try plugging the A210 to your PC via USB slave port.

The HD should appear as a removable drive as long as you have the proper driver to read ext2/3 partitions.

Hi scifi-fan

Does our A200/A210 really have problems displaying VOB subs?    Many Framestor untouched/remux use this sub format and I just noticed the issue recently.  Any quick fix other than demuxing and converting the subs?  Thanks

Yes playing back of MKVs with Hi resolution VOBSUBs will cause it to crash.

It's high on the priority list to be fixed.

However I want to make clear that Hi res vobsubs will NOT be supported due to some licensing frou-frou. What is intended is to make it so that it does not crash the player even if it detects it in the file. Hence it will play back without subtitles. Standard resolution vobsub files do work (DVD standard).

That's why for Bluray backups I use PGS as that's the standard used in retail bluray discs.

Thanks for the clarification scifi-fan.  No wonder Framestor untouched video remux(es) is forcing me to restart the A200 every now and then.

Yeah, I decided to demux the mkv, took out the vobsubs, replaced them with PGS and remuxed.

Good thing the folder contains PGS file as well.

Thanks again.

Hi ert,

I play these files on my cheap H0155.

VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB

Problem is the gap when the player changes from  VTS_01_0.VOB to VTS_01_1.VOB.
It is really annoying. I was expecting this to be continous.

Does this pricier nmt solve the problem?

I can always merge the files, but more files will kill your patience.

Thinking of plunking down money for this... but when I demo'd it at 5th Ave Park Square 1 I was, frankly, turned off by the interface. It didn't look anything like the screenshots at the top of this page...

Is that because that's the standard interface and you have to install NMJ or YAMJ to get the shiny?

Also, what advantages does this have compared to, say, the WD TV Live Hub?

Bro ert,

looking at the list, definitely no contest naman si PCH A210 (sigma) vs Egreat R6B (1055+, pang external USB lang siya) siguro yung Egreat S800 panapat.

I own a PCH C200 as well its good player and sets the bar
great:
- NMJ is much smoother now , you'll need it if you want the interface as shown, it fetches IMDB info, minsan lang naman yan and you are better off afterwards.
- I like PopCornHour interface, yung file list nila is really good as well, and they are fully committed to firmware enhancements plus the apps available are good,
- Though if you have BD multiregion you can only change to a certain region for a fixed number of times, not sure if may way to make it read multiregion permanently?

What a coincidence I bought another A-210 today for my parents.

Here's my recommended setup.

1. Buy a 4GB USB flash drive (CDR-King ones a-ok, less than 500 pesos).

2. Using a Windows Machine format your new 2TB using NTFS partitioning first. Make sure you create a Volume Name (example "A210") during the format. When you are done create a subdirectory called "Video" (case sensitive please).

3. At this point you can start copying over your content while it's attached to a PC. A direct SATA connection will always be a lot faster than transferring via USB/Network. This may take awhile if you plan to copy over Terrabytes worth of content.

4. Assemble the A-210 using the provided manual to install a HD in it. Plug the 4GB Flash Drive in the rear USB port.

5. Attach to TV as mentioned in the manual and power everything up. Also best to have it directly connected to your home LAN via ethernet cable (WIFI too slow).

6. Setup various settings regarding HDMI/Audio/Video first and save it.

7. Update to latest firmware if applicable

8. Install NMT Applications

- Setup > Maintenance > NMT Setup Wizard
When asked what type of install select "Fresh Setup"
When asked where to install, select the USB_DRIVE (that's the 4GB flash drive)
It will reboot after the procedure.

9. Set Media Drive

- Setup > Maintenance > NMT Setup Wizard
When asked what type of install select "Media Setup"
When asked what drive will be set as Media destination, select the 2TB drive.

This is my default setup because;

1. NTFS means I can easily attach the A-210 to my PC/MAC via USB slave port without extra drivers. It will make it easier to transfer stuff to/from PC/MAC to the internal HD.

2. Using NTFS drives, you can actually use the same drive when you want to move it to HTPC or even another Media Player

Good Luck.
