Hi to my fellow DVD members!

I have been doing some research on this forum on this subject but i feel the more i read the more it gets complicated.

The HT room is around 20SQM only, and rectangular in shape. My budget for the gears is 200k and maybe i can stretch is further to 250k at the maximum. For the display, I'm quite inclined to purchase the Panasonic THP55ST30 due to its good price point.

For the speakers, i would have wanted initially to get a B&W/Paradigm, but with these speakers i would have to invest in a bigger power supply and amplifier. With my budget, this seems to be out of the equation already. I was able to audition the Polk Audio RTiA Series, and the sound seems to be quite okay, but it would have been better if the store that i went to had another speaker setup that i could have listened to another brand, just for comparison since the Polk Audio was the only one set-up in the store.  Since the my space is quite small, a 7.1 system wouldn't be that noticeable so i'd just go for a 5.1 setup. I have no idea on amplifiers, receivers to match with which speakers.

Hope you guys can help me out here. Thanks in advanced. :D

The RTi speakers are easy to power. Most midlevel AVRs would not have an issue driving them.

There is a lot of receiver and speaker out there first you should know the pro and cons of each brand.

With your room size AFAIK ok ang 7.1 or 7.2 dual sub we have same room size. Why not get a PJ if i were in your situation. :D :D

Suggestion:

HDTV or PJ = PJ - You can get a PJ online around 70k landed price in PH AIR shipping Epson 3010 1 week.
Receiver = Yamaha 2010 - Landed price Air Shipping 60k
Speaker = MA, Pradigm, Polk, PSB, B&W and other brand just make a demo if you have reciever na for you to hear ano maganda sa pandinig mo.

Computation:

PJ = 70,000
Receiever = 60,000

Total = 130, 000
Total Budget = 250,000
Remaining Budget = 120, 000

May speaker budget ka pa na 120k malaki na yan to get a mid end speaker set 5.1 muna if ayaw mo ng 5.2 or 7.2 dual sub.  ;D ;D

Thanks for the quick reply bros.

@xrampage - i also watch tv as well kaya i didn't consider getting a PJ. And mahal rin ata screen of PJs? Regarding the 7.1 setup, noticeable ba yung difference?

Sakit sa ulo rin pala mag-setup - may mga ohms pa na issue which is alien to me. Hehe.

Di naman problema ang panonood ng TV brader mas maganda bili ka ng for TV viewing lang then yung PJ is for movie marathon the bigger the screen the better pag movies ang papanoorin mo this is just a suggestion. In my opinion kasi mas maganda manood sa big screen like 100 inch lalo na pag 3D pa. :D :D

Good luck brader sa pag setup ng HT room mo.

what's up with the polk rti polk rti polk rti? it's driving me insane. the design is just so so. and to think it really gained recognition here in pdvd only by word of mouth (or post) in the past year...maybe a couple. ok sorry na. na miss ko lang kase yung dating diversity.

just get a very good sub, some klipsch efficient speakers, a 3d capable big screen and a midlevel avr. i suggest getting it in one shop para masmalaki discount. i also suggest buying from smaller av stores where you'll have the owner assisting you. they listen to different speakers and amps day in and day out. therefore they are the best go-to-guys for advice. good luck!

Parang receiver din lang yan brader. Malakas kasi ang marketing pag sa experience ng isang tao mo narinig ang experience nila sa isang brand siyempre maiisip ng bibili bat ang dami gumagamit and nag popost ng ganitong brand and model. Like dati in my experience nadala din ako sa world or mouth kaya natuto na ako mag search if ever na amy madinig ako na magandang bagay sa isang bagay na bibilhin ko. Check ko muna bago ipurchase and compare to other brand.  :D :D

^ dati uso wharfes which is understandable kase pinaka murang branded yon along with ms carnivals. meron ding mission mv series na affordable dati. but rti's have a price tag that can already get you other british and canadian brands. to each his own nga naman pero tlagang nakakaumay na sa kakabasa ng rti recommendations.

Easy brader, what's your beef with polk anyway?  Hehe.

It just so happened naka setup sa store is polk. I didnt say i was going to get it kaya if you read my post i said said it sounded 'okay' and not 'great'. I guess there's no choice talaga for me but to visit AV shops and audition differents brands para may diversity. :)

The RTi series from Polk is a safe option - for the price, you'll never go wrong with them :) You may also consider other brands like PSB, Monitor Audio, SVS, Paradigm, etc... Just pick the set that matches the rest of your gears and would fit the budget. Since you have a dedicated HT room, please consider adding acoustic treatments.

Hi bro, i'm having the room acoustically treated, having a hard time sourcing for suppliers though. Auralex sana but i cant afford. :(

I've had a chance to audition Definitive Technology mythos series. Aesthetics wise its very nice, ang nipis niya and for me sounded better than the RTI. Will check out Paradigm tomorrow. :)
