well kung gusto mo talaga ng 5.1 here are my two suggestions:

logitech z5300 - 180watts rms, pseudo-5.1 thru sound matrix

logitech z680 - 500watts rms, w/ built in decoder(dolby digital, dts, & pro logic 2) also can connect 4 app. simultaneously(tv, dvd, ps2, & pc).

I am he as you are me and we are all together !!!

Those small powered 5.1 sub-sats are no different from those powered 5.1 speakers meant for PCs.  The Altec Lansing brand is pedigreed.  You can trace its heritage to excellent theater speakers as early as the 1950s or earlier. (I think its founder is related to James B. Lansing of the JBL name)   I've heard an Altec Lansing 5.1 PC sub-sat hooked to a PC's internal soundcard in our office and they can really fill the office (larger than your typical room even) and are used whenever we had office parties.    But these are the more expensive ones costing around 15T, if not mistaken.  Not the usual 5.1 PC speakers costing less than 5T.  Though the Creative Labs speaker set seem to have good value as well.  These sub-sats accept line level output in the 1v to 3v RMS range.  Both the soundcards and your DVD players have that output level.  As long as the DVD players have analog 5.1 output, you can connect them directly to any powered 5.1 sub-sat speaker set.

may ganzklar 5.1 sa makro for only P2,999. my tito bought the 2.1(P1,999)set for his ganzklar dvd player and it sounded good/louder and i think even better than his old philips mini component imho. :D

may narinig pala akong Dai-ichi sa Tech Central MCS. ok pang home theater, considering ang laki ng show room doon. :)

I hooked up a JBL Invader 4.1 pc speaker set to our TCL DVD player and it sounded fine.  The former doesn't have a separate subwoofer channel though, so it basically just filters the lows and pumps it to the sub.  I use our mono TV for the center channel and if the levels are set just right, it sounds great!

Affordable 5.1 speakers
Hi! I'm new in collecting dvds, and I just bought a GanzKlar dvd player. My friend told me to buy a decent 5.1 speakers. My problem is my budget is only 5000 for a 5.1 speaker. Can anyone recommend a good 5.1 setup for my dvd player? Thanks!

You can try a Xenon AX-305 (speaker stands included) it costs a little more than 5K, ok to for movies. Or a Promac 5.1, it is less than 4k I think.

Are those Dolby and DTS?

So the Dolby and DTS thing depends on your dvd player and not on the speakers. What if I connect a pc speaker to my dvd player, will it still play Dolby and DTS sounds? What about surround, what are those?

Have heard a powered Xenon 5.1 at SM appliance a year ago and was quite impressed.  It beats any BOSE sub-sat at 1/10th the price.  Great value.  At that time it was less that 5T.

Get a Xenon 5.1 home theatre set, you will not regret it. I also heard it performed and it amazed me. I think the price of it is just a little more than Php 5K. Another thing is you can trust Xenon kung si Sir Av_phile na mismo ang nagsabi na ok ito. Sir AV-phile is a certified audiophile.

Also, if you need a tall speaker, Xenon includes a set of speaker stand for the fronts.

Had seen one in Western Appliances, at Farmers cubao. Haven't got the chance to auditioned it. it cost about 5190 pesos, according to the salesman. La daw speaker stand na kasama.  :(
