“Raising Dion” follows the story of a woman named Nicole (Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (Young) after the death of her husband, Mark (Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.

“Raising Dion” is based on the comic book of the same name by commercial and music video director Dennis Liu.

The hour-long, ten-episode series will premiere on Netflix on October 4, 2019.

Netflix's 'Raising Dion,' From Michael B. Jordan, Renewed for Season 2

Netflix has handed out a second-season renewal for its Michael B. Jordan-produced superhero family drama Raising Dion.

Production on the eight-episode sophomore season will begin this year. A return date for the show, starring Alisha Wainwright and Ja'Siah Young, has not yet been determined.

The renewal arrives days after Netflix released data about its "most popular" shows of 2019, with Raising Dion ranking 10th among Netflix's original series.
