Las Vegas odds makers predict that the Nets and Lakers are the top two teams with the biggest odds to win it this year.  Warriors ranked 3rd and the Bucks at 4th.

Looks like many odds makers predict that the Bucks wont repeat as champs

NBA Celebrates 75th Anniversary

“The NBA’s milestone 75th Anniversary Season will be celebrated this upcoming season and the celebration will last throughout the 2021-22 campaign. The landmark season will be commemorated as ‘NBA 75’ and will soon feature a list of the 75 greatest players in league history.

The unveil of the NBA’s 75 greatest players in league history will occur this October. The storied list will be created by a blue-ribbon panel of media, current and former players, coaches, general managers, and team executives.“

https://www.nba.com/news/nba-to-name-75-greatest-players-during-celebration-of-75th-anniversary-season?amp=1

The list of the NBA’s 75 greatest players will be a fresh one, i.e., not all the players named in the NBA’s 50 greatest players list back in 1996 are guaranteed of making it to this new list.

Naging ganun na yun nba ngayon. Dapat talaga 3 star superteam. Kaya pala pinili si westbrook. Gm Lebron at its best lol..dinner anybody? So professional ;)

According to Brad Turner of the L.A. Times, the Lakers’ three new superstars first plotted out their union during a dinner at James’ house in Los Angeles, a meal over which all three All-Stars committed to doing whatever was necessary to fit together:

They talked about putting their egos aside and playing as one in their quest to bring the Lakers another NBA championship. Westbrook talked about how his only intention was winning and coming back home to Los Angeles to become a champion.

James and Davis talked about the two of them changing positions if that was best for the team — James moving from small forward to power forward and Davis from power forward to center.

Westbrook let James and Davis know he doesn’t mind playing off the ball when James initiates the offense, something he did while playing alongside James Harden with the Houston Rockets.

This is where the lines between Business and Sports are blurred.

Superstars from different teams agree to play with another.
Superstars inform their respective GM's of their intent
GM informs President of Basketball Ops and Team Ownership of their direction for trading for a Super star. Green light given
GM's executes trades to acquire Superstars from rival teams. Super Team is formed
IF Super Team wins...they increase the value of their brand and salary
IF Super Team wins...the organization as a whole benefits due to ticket sales, merchandise etc. The value of the organization shoots up.

Heck even if a super team doesn't win they already increase the business of their organization and their brand as a whole.  The whole objective is to get fans to go and see the games.  You dont pay to watch so so players. Fans pay big to watch the stars play.

is the NBA a business? you can bet it is.  100% business.  Its just that the commodity that they sell is entertainment through sports.

Meanwhile...there is talk that DeRozan can still land in LA via a sign and trade for Dennis Schroder + Caruso.

Spurs are going to go young and would like to have players that are in the same timeline.  Lakers look like they are stockpiling All Stars.  Perhaps headed for war with the Brooklyn Nets.

I don't understand where this is going.  DeRozan is another non 3 point threat. First we got Westbrook who is historically horrible from three and Pelinka is dealing for DeRozan?

This is going to be a long year for the fanbase.

Seth is too expensive for them and he is under contract til 2023 so a trade is needed.  Seth is also small and will be a liability on defense come playoffs.

First it is imperative that they need to re-sign Caruso and THT.  Those two will have bigger roles to fill this season due to the departure of Kuzma, KCP and Harrel.
From there they only have the vet minimum type of money to attract Veteran players who are aiming to increase their value through winning a championship just like a Rondo back in 2020.  Rondo managed to secure a 2 year 15M contract with the Hawks after showcasing his talent and winning the championship.

They have the mid level exception to sign a good player as well.

Here is the list of those players rumored to be on their radar. They dont need to land all of them. if they get 2 to three from the list they will be ok in filling up their roster:

Patty Mills - MLE
JJ Reddick
Carmelo Anthony
Rudy Gay
Javale Mcgee
Dwight Howard

Here is the kicker...they aren't done yet,  They will fill out the rest of the roster after the deal with DeRozan if it pushes through or not. The rumored deal is via sign and trade with Schroder + Caruso or THT in exchange for DeRozan.

It is like they are assembling an army

Another trade. Maybe this helps, although this is more about the Mavs clearing cap space.

Agree. Currently they are still trying to get DeRozan at a bargain price. Madami silang options. Danny Green is available again, Nerlens Noel for a big man.  The ones whom they will get are vets who are chasing rings or those who like to live in LA.  Iba kasi talaga lifestyle dun unlike a Minnesota or Utah na napakalamig.

I'm not really hopeful with the addition of WB.He averages in triple double stats perhaps the only one who is able to do it but his being a team player is really suspect. He is the only superstar (if we can call him that) that has been traded several times already yet has not led his team to anything significant apart from the individual accomplishments that he seems to do at ease. I don't think he has that consistent perimeter and outside shot

LeBron will still dominate the ball while AD isolates in the paint. So Westbrook will be designated as their spot up shooter.  Good luck!   ;D

If AD is healthy and they can get decent role players to support their big three then the Lakers have a decent shot to reach the finals.  I'm pretty sure those three superstars can figure it out just like the Nets.  In the Western Conference,  Kawhi and Jamal Murray both had surgery for ACL. Historically you do not just come back from that kind of injury and be in playoff form. It takes a lot of time to recover from that kind of injury.

The only teams that LA needs to figure out are Portland, Utah and PHO.

Portland is a team that is due for an overhaul.  The McCollum and Lillard tandem got them nowhere.
Utah naman was exposed last year by the Clippers.  All they did was to play Morris as their small ball center and that eliminated all the strengths of Gobert because he was busy chasing Morris in the perimeter.
I think it will be the Suns who can run it back to the Western Finals provided that they re-sign CP3.

Zach Lavine on his contract negotiation with the Bulls:

"I just want my respect, that's the main thing," "I outplayed my contract. I've been very loyal to Chicago. I like Chicago. I just want my respect. If that's now or later, it's something we've got to work out internally."

Last I looked he wasn't able to do much for Chicago except to score meaningless points when the game is already out of hand.

Dennis Schroder naman "Fair value" is what he is looking for on his next contract.  What is fair for him in his point of view is 20-25M/year.  Tomorrow is the opening of free agency. Lets see if both these dudes get what they want.

^i think Zach did good with Chicago naman despite lacking other working pieces. Truth is, Chicago is far from even reaching the semis with their line up.

parang wala din major plans to be a contending team anytime soon.

The NBA free agency market is now officially open. Latest notable deals involving player movement:

* Kyle Lowry to MIA
* Lonzo Ball to CHI, Satoransky, Garrett Temple to NOP
* Olynyk to DET
* McDermott to SAS
* Jeff Green to DEN
* Ariza, Wayne Ellington, Dwight Howard to LAL
* Fournier to NYK

One remarkable deal involving a FA re-signing: Bobby Portis. Turned down bigger offers and took less money (US$9M, 2y) to stay with the Bucks.
