You cannot get equal value for now but you can get draft assets for him which you can use in the very near future...lots of it actually.  Ever noticed that Lebron led teams always deplete their draft assets whenever he plays for them?  He needs tried and proven vets around him to get to the finals.  The teams he played for then trade away their assets to get those type of players.  He then bolts out when he sees that what they assembled isn't enough and moves on to another team stockpiled with draft assets and young players and the cycle repeats itself again.

That formula is ok when he was in the peak of his powers. He led teams to finals and won 4 times but now we have to consider that he is injury prone na. The past 3 years he missed a lot of games already.

It isn't realistic to build your team through free agency to contend for a championship every year. Players have peak seasons and soon after that it falls off...quickly. LBJ is still very productive but one cannot defy time. 

The longest dynasties organically happened via draft with an addition of a free agent or two to put your team over the hump.  The Bulls, The Warriors....thru draft yan.

Improve the defense. They ranked #21 last year.  During their championship run a few years back? #2.  The year after that? #1.

Nawala si Pope and Caruso so all of the guards ng ibang teams just ran amuck with RW pretending to guard them.  Madalas wala pa si AD last year so parang lay up line lang.  Imagine noon Pope starts the game guarding the best perimeter player of the opposing team then Caruso subs for him.  No let up yung defense kasi 1-2 punch nila sa perimeter defense yun eh. Pag may nakalusot dun sa dalawa AD is just waiting sa paint to send the ball back to the stands.  Then one was traded and the other one wasn't extended to give way for the arrival of...you guessed it...Russel Westbrook.

Pat Bev can bring some of that defensive mentality back to the Lakers.  The issue here is would they have the playing time for him since RW is STILL with the team and he will be given 25 to 30 mins playing time.

Pat Bev is on an expiring contract. If it doesn't work out then they will have more cap space next year since THT has 2 more years in his contract.

Malaki ang regression ni THT since landing that contract.  he was viewed as one of the bright spots for the Lakers. He is only 21 years old. With his 7 foot wingspan he should be able to dominate on the defensive side but it didn't happen. His offensive skills took a sharp nosedive as well.

This is true. Westbrook's expiring contract is a fantastic opportunity for UTA to shed off a huge chunk of salary (that they owe Mitchell) and officially start their reboot with a clean slate after next season. The question here is what other assets will they ask the Lakers for in return?  3 first rounders?  LA doesnt have that currently unless they flip any of their players under contract (not named AD and LBJ) for first rounders then that trade scenario might happen.

For me its another bad fit. Mitchell is most effective with the ball in his hands.....we don't expect LBJ to play off the ball....he never did that and he wont do it now. He is chasing the scoring title.  He needs the ball in his hands
