Rebecca Criterion Collection

got this dvd from the Hitchcock OOP boxset and was eager to watch it right away when i saw that this film won a couple of  Oscars. production wise, efforts by Selznick and Hitchcock gave this film a classic status. Olivier is definitely affective. Fontaine is sweet and beautiful but at times irritatingly charming.---> can't read her expressions (which frustrates me), very unpredictable, which worked positively in so many scenes.

Nice plot but very abrupt ending and left many questions in my bag after seeing the film. nice transfer and features by criterion though.. really something to grab in your collection.

 :)

Peter Pan Special Edition

a classic disney film with superb special features and special audiio commentary by disney pioneers... this is an animation gem with good songs and simple yet engaging plot... but slow style story telling . :)

watch it...

Well, it's no Wedding Singer, that's for sure. But it was sort of nice to see those two back together. Plus all the Filipino kids playing Rob Schneider's children.

^ ganda nga niyan Hemisphere, sayang nga mine is a bare-bones r3 release..

Anyway, mine is Good Will Hunting. One of my all time favorites. Simple formula but extraordinary execution. Definitely a must-have, if only for replay (and sentimental, in my case) value.  ;D

Boss hemisphere, i was just wondering why you said the movie is very disturbing... I saw this in theater and I also got a copy of R1, and I like it before and I still like it watching up to now... just a thought...

boss radical dude, wazup..

regarding The Talented Mr. Ripley.. i find it disturbing cause my logic and emotions were juggled in this unique tug-o-war plot. pity the killer or persecute him? really a disturbing dilemma... plus i have never seen a graphical crime where a paddle (sp?) was used before in films. really shocked to see this sequence...

generally, i like the film: cinematography, script, brilliant cast, editing and music. galing talaga.. i was at the edge of my seat when i watched this film... not knowing what would happen next.. this should have been a strong Oscar contender but promoting the film to the members of the academy was not fully maximized. one comment though regarding the bike scene of tom and marge.. a stronger alibi could have been used instead of tom just leaving marge alone and givng some shallow stories...

and of course the rest of the film is the best i have ever seen so far...

 ;) ;) ;)

yes boss hemisphere, can i call you just boss hem? haba ng hemisphere eh... (joke only) Yeah I agree with your observation regarding the bike scene... and having gwyneth, matt, jude and cate as casts, with minghella on the helm, you can say that again... brilliant!!! too bad there's no oscar... (wala nga ba kahit isa? can't recall na...)

But my recently viewed dvd is:

The Rock - Criterion Collection

The Rock rocks! Simultaneously explosive and compelling! Have seen this countless times in the past but I never tire of it, at may konti pang Claire Forlani!  ;D

bossing, am not sure if the two are different coz I dont have the r1 individual release, what I had was the r3 version which I already sold about 2 weeks ago....if you have the dts r1 version, I think the probable reason why it's malabo is precisely the presence of the dts audio track which eats up a big chunk of the disc's memory.....bili ka nalang ng trilogy box set, malapit na ata mag-OOP ito, hehehehe ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Spy Kids Game Over 3D

- I tried watching the movie in 3D with the 3D glasses out of curiousity.  Although at first it feels awkward but cool seeing a movie in 3D but after awhile, I had to shift to the 2D version coz the glasses were giving me a headache.  You wouldn't appreciate the vivid colors with the glasses because once you wear it, there will be a dominant green or red hue in the picture you are watching.

Bought this movie because of the 3D effect but expected the movie to be like Spy Kids 1 which I really didn't like much. As expected this movie also sucked big time...plotwise.  Effects were so-so.
