listened to the els3 with my amx@4ohms and basie preamp this morning. iba talaga clarity and resolution ng speaker na ito. neutral vocals and mids. yung base defined pero syempre minsan deficient sa ibang recording coz malaki yung area ko(kahit floorstander minsan kulang sa area ko) this speaker will really shine in a smaller room.

little big wonder talage ika nga ni hans. :)

Nakuha ko po yung Epos M12.2 from John yung iniwan ni Mang Paquito. I hooked it up with Cayin MT35. Ang ganda po ng tunog. It cost me letting go my AE Evo3 and B&W 602S3. This is the speaker to keep and enjoy for life, parang ayaw ko nang umalis ng bahay. But we have to work to sustain our hobbies :)

Finally, got completed my set up:

Epos M12.2
Cayin MT35 Tube Int. Amp
Cayin CDT15A Tube CD player
XLO ER4 I/C
XLO ER14 shotgunned for HF
XLO ER11 shotgunned for LF (biwire)

With this, one can already forget about the system and just enjoy being immersed with the music.

The Epos M5 crossover has 3 components for the woofer to achieve a 2nd order (12 dB per octave) filter while the tweeter has 4 components for a 3rd order (18 dB per octave) filter centered at 3 KHz.

The m12.2 on the other hand remains true to the epos tradition of having only one component in the crossover (capacitor for the tweeter). The woofer crossover is achieved mechanically.

The m12.2 is very appealing to tube amp users as the main driver is directly connected to the amp without crossovers to muddy up the sound.  Plus it is easy to drive as its impedance dips only to 5.5 ohms at above 10 kHz.  (My former speaker goes down to a deadly 3 ohms in the bass region.)

The mids are sweet and the treble, very detailed and the bass can rival floorstanders as noted by Jetok.  I fell in love with these speakers the first time I saw/heard them and eventually took a pair home.  The m5 could suit smaller listening rooms but the soundstage of the m12.2 is more vast compared to its smaller brother.

Here is a tweak I did to my m12.2 which can raise the treble performance a notch higher.

This is easy to do as the tweeter grille/cover is only held in place by the tweeter's magnet.

Please share How did you remove the tweeter grille/cover?

Sir Thanks. Will try removing  the tweter grill as explained.

Another question. Watt Hi Fi is now selling a copied speaker stand, open steel frame 21 inches high. Will this make a difference? I mount mine on a set of 24inches high with 3 inches single round post and filled with sand. I intend to trade it in if really OK.

Thanks.

Why not borrow a pair from Watt Hifi then home audition them?

The Epos instruction manual states that:
"Speaker's image best if you can just see the top face of the speaker from your listening position.".

The 24 inch stand (which I also use) puts the eye level near tweeter level.  The 21 inch probably will achieve what the manual recommends.

Please pm me the price of their ST12 stand clone.

Tried removing the tweeter grill. More sparkle on the highs, extended and crispier. Am not quite comfortable without it on as protection, got a 5 yr. old daughter na medyo makulit so I put it back. I just listen, without the metal grill speaker cover.
Will try to home audition the clone stand sometime if WattHiFi permits, but no need to hurry. The M12.2 looks handsome on my 24 in. gray colored tubular sandfilled pair of stand.

Thanks for your advises.
