Surround set-up
« on: Jun 29, 2006 at 12:02 AM »
My cousin has 3 pairs of cabinet type speakers at home and a pair of old Sony APV Woofer. He is thinking of buying a AV Receiver and the set-up he's thinking of is: (center=>one Sansui speaker), (fronts=>a pair of old Bose SPIII speakers), (surround=>old Sony APV Woofer), (sub=>other Sansui speaker). Is this possible?

Yup, except for the sub. You need an active one.

Possible.  But consider timber matching - very important in multiple speaker configs.  Speaker senstitives as well.  Unless your receiver has the facility to individually shape each channel's  tone and volume.

I agree!

dont forget also to check speaker "impedances"

if the varry, and your reciever cant handle it, you will just turn-up burning your reciver!

It is more important for you to learn about speakers impedances first rather than issues on timber matching or else you can no longer use the available speakers you have there.  ;D

Now if you are annoyed of the sound you hear, and you are not enjoying it anymore, then thats the time you read about timber matching.  ;D
