i have been reading most of the posts in this thread because i have been contemplating on getting one because of the divx and because i am planning to replace my old greenhills "orange" unit. it's good to read reviews prior to any purchase. Now i think i can get one.
one question: can i use the remote of my receiver on this unit of nextbase? i have a marantz receiver and when i was using my philips player on my set up, it was automatically hooked up to my receiver's remote.

I believe not. I have been looking for their remote 'code' also. I even called up NB service center but they could'nt give me any. BTW, One of the poster here reiterated that this cannot decode DTS. But since you have a separate receiver I guess this will not be a problem.

What more can I add?

Initial impressions:

Pros:
Audio passes to a 24/96 DAC, better sounding as compared to my thin-sounding Pioneer DV-233. I like the vol control sa remote.

Cons: tray looks flimsy (plastic), power, open/close button seems hard to push but at 4k, ok na ang price/ performance ratio.

i might just end up getting it tomorrow at abensons. they have 3 mos zero interest e. so that would make spending a little less heavy on the expense

it is...got one 2 fridays ago..but got it at 4200 cos its below the minimum 5T for 0% installment...that's only 700 for 6 months...not bad for a superb player

btw, i noticed that when i use the fast forward option (2x) the sub-titles don't appear anymore...ganon ba talaga?....in my old player, the sub-titles appear in the fast forward mode (2x); thus making long boring scenes move faster but viewers still can read through the dilalogues

Hi, because of Kenzo823's promotion of the NB-656, I bought one last Sunday at Ansons Landmark. Out of stock kasi sa Sm Makati. I was contemplating wether to buy the Pioneer(forgot the model but cost P4500) Divx ready na rin or the NB 656. I was more inclined to buy the Pioneer kasi I have a pioneer player (Pioneer K302cd) which is still working after 5 yrs, mas gusto ko na ang subok na. But lets say na leap of faith, I bought the NB-656 because of good reviews and I think nextbase players can read bootlegs better. Yung pioneer ko kasi nababsa yung Lost bootleg copies kaso paputol putol. I tried playing it sa Nextbase and it played all the way. I might buy the 5.1 speakers ng nextbase, pero that will be another story. Thanks sa review Kenzo

Connected the COAX output to a Monica2 DAC. Now I am using this as my CD player. Very good results.

mga sir tulong po! when im playing divx anime hindi fullscreen meron black bars sa side so ginawa ko i went to setup/normal ps (wide by default) so mag full screen na kaya lang ang probs minsan lumalampas ang subtitles and hind mabasa..so anong kayang tamang resolution ng video kung mag burn ako para full screen ang movie and at the same time mabasa ang subtitles..tnx!

my sister recently bought this player
i've experience that this player can't play mp3 songs recorded in a dvd-r media but can in a cd-r, cd-rw disc.
why is that so?

I've tested my NB-656 using the CDR-King NBA Miami Heat DVD+R containing the Harry POtter Audio books in MP3 format and some Skid Row MP3 tracks and they played flawlessly.

Maybe there's something wrong with the way your MP3 DVD-R was burned.

I have this unit since December 05, nung una dipa updated firmware nya kasi bagong labas pa lang, yung
start-up eh hindi pa yung logo nang NextBase kundi DVD logo lang naka-display, kaya nung nakita ko may
DVD player na NextBase logo ang startup pina-update ko sya.

Performance Review?

Ok na ok... walang problema... although compared to JVC DVD Player, it takes a little bit amount of time
to load a movie whether it's VCD or DVD (the LOADING sequence).

Download lang me nang download sa net nang mga DivX movies and it plays without any problem... Inquire
ko lang san ba makakabili nang mga DivX movies dito sa atin?

Kung gusto nyo nang mura na 5.1 NextBase Speaker, tawag kayo sa Head Office nila, nagkakaroon sila nang
sale duon almost 40% off, yung mga display na nakikita natin sa mga distributor nila... yun ang binebenta duon
which is very cheap na ha.

Kaso hindi ako umabot sa sale nila eh :-( Kaya ang binili ko 2.1 Altec Lansing na speaker... it ROCKS!!! Ganda nang output.

tanong ko lang po, pwede bang gamitin yung PC speakers (ATP3) for this? pano ko po ikakabit na makukuha pa rin yung separation between left ang right channel?
