T2: UE (new version w/ 2 discs)...which is better?
« on: Nov 23, 2001 at 05:45 AM »
Guys, just got my copy of T2:UE but not with the metal casing. I hear the first release has only 1 disc but it is double sided. The new one I got only has a box cover -not metal but it has 2 discs. I think the content of both versions are the same or am I mistaken? Which do you think is the better release? Looking forward to all your inputs fellow DVD addicts!  :o

I got my T2:UE the first time it came out. It comes with a metal casing, a booklet and 2 discs. I don't know if they ever came out with a double-sided single-disc edition (probably not the UE). What you probably have is the same as mine (and all the others) without the tin case (and perhaps also the booklet).

Yes, T2 UE did first come out as a double sided double layered disc. Apparently, it was originally intended to be all double sided discs. But the initial orders for the DVD was so huge that the factories that could produce these double sided discs couldn't cope, so they had a different version made, this time with 2 single sided double layered discs. That was because there were more factories that could produce it, at least at the time. So when it first came out, there were indeed 2 different versions of it, but aside from the difference in number of discs, there were no real differences between the two. So no version is really better than the other. But I do prefer the 2 disc version which I got. :)

the 2 dvd-9 version is better than the single dvd-18 disc when it comes to disc protection against dust, fingerprints, smudges bec. of the artwork for each disc.

the 2 dvd-9 version is better than the single dvd-18 disc when it comes to disc protection against dust, fingerprints, smudges bec. of the artwork for each disc thus not exposing the data layer of each disc. isa pang naisip ko is if you have a mega changer mas maganda yung 2 disc version dahil you could both load the disc and enjoy watching them without going up and turning the disc (parang LD na di auto-reverse).

Thanks for all your inputs guys! That really helped ease some of my confusion. Although I'm still wondering if the second release which I got really doesn't come with a metal casing? Are you sure na 2-disc & with metal casing yung sayo Utoy? How about yours Komikero & Robertj?

Robertj,
Btw dude, interested ka pa ba sa metallica dvd ko? Baka may ibang titles kapa na for trade. Just PM me. Thanks!

Yung sa akin may Metal Casing. I got the disc when it first came out. I didn't realize that newer versions of it didn't have the metal casing na pala.

So its all a matter of better casing or better discs. Which do you guys prefer?

Compaq,
Nope dude, I ordered this sealed from someone else. That's when I actually noticed the difference between the two.

Hi Gladiator,

My T2:UE is the double sided disc.  Got it when it first came out too.  Metal casing and booklet to boot.

Hi Robertj,

No problem with my mega changer since it has a FLIP function.  Although I prefer the 2 disc version, if you think about it some more, I can actually increase capacity of my mega changer if most of these things came out in double sided discs  ;)

I got it from Amazon. Maybe you can go to the pinoyDVD Marketplace Forum and ask around there. I'm sure those guys can help you out with that.  :)

ive read in several forums that they are both stand alone editions, meaning you can have both versions, as that was the intention of the makers and not for the fans to have an upgrade

Wow, great collection xage. Did not know that there was a cardboard release for the extreme version. So do you think the one selling for $9 at Amazon is probably that one?

Sorry for the late response...

YES, 99.99% sure that the one sold at Amazon is the "Cardboard" slipcase of the Extreme Edition
