Red (2010)

4 out of 5

RED is more likely a celebration of all star cast in a fun comedy action flick that people are craving for years. This is so fun that the Expendables guys should take note off.

The Three Musketeers (2011)

0.5 out of 5 - P.W Anderson sucks

its weak, its boring, trying to be a disney like pirates film in a bad way. In short, very awful.

Carnage 2011

I had no idea about the background of this film hence no expectations whatsoever when I started to play.  It turned out to be an amazingly seamless 1 hour 15 minute dialogue, with excellently paced story involving 4 adults (2 couples) within the same confined space, discussing and arguing about the fight between their sons.  The screenplay felt like real-time.   Funny in an adult way how their emotions and true feelings came out as the arguments and discussions got extended.  And the very last scene turned out to be the topping of the whole comedy.

Brilliant movie by Roman Polanski with excellent acting by 4 well acknowledged stars.

The Special Features section contains a deep and amusing interview of the 2 male stars.  Inglourious Basterds star Christoff Waltz sounded quite cerebral, with very German-precise choice of English words and English language eloquence.  John Reilly's comments about co-star Kate Winslet were hilarious.

The Hunter (2012)

5 out of 5 - William Dafoe's at his best.

The Hunter should be one of the best drama suspense this year. With its silent tension in the wilderness jungles of Australia and William Dafoe's charisma, its just a perfect combination and epic. A must see.

Fast and furious 5. Great video quality and bombastic audio. Although I must say I'm not too impressed with the special features and that U-control feature. But I appreciate that the picture in picture frame is larger than the one for 2012 and The Thing. Good news for me and my 32" screen. :)

Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

2.5 out of 5 - Watchable at times

Bad acting, bad screenplay, flat story telling, rip off action scenes. Maybe some intense scenes will wake you up and nothing more. Paul Anderson ruins this franchise maybe that fans are expecting the next sequel to be the worst.

X-Men & X2: X-Men United

Been a while since I last watched these.

A worthy upgrade to BD. My only gripe with the 4 disc UK region free version is the lack of extras. X2 surprisingly still holds up after all these years.

Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003)

3.5 out of 5

Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 is more like Pulp Fiction in an overdose mode. So much gory sequences, hack and slash violent sword fights and there goes the bloody hell mary. First half was pretty intense, but when the fight scenes at the climax part starts, it is just over the top and ridiculous. Instead of its cool impression, I was laughing the whole time of those scenes. I don't know what is in Tarantino's mind, maybe he wants more of those anime sword fights and put up in a live action sequence. Though, the presentation is still at Tarantino's finest, with those brilliant screenplay combine it with those cool old school Japanese rhythms, its still enjoyable to watch.

Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

4.5 out of 5

Letters from Iwo JIma is maybe one of the most untold stories by these unsung heroes in the Iwo Jima war. This is maybe one of the best Eastwood's films, its very influential and well executed. I'm very impressed by the brilliant performances by these finest Japanese actors especially when Ken Watanabe marks another brilliant performance in his resume. Superbly done and a must see epic.

Skyline

This film could've been much better. It had a promising start but after the ships appeared, it was all downhill from then on.
