If you use any of the player's digital output, the processing will be done by your receiver instead of the player's onboard decoders. Sa madaling sabi, you get DTS.

IF you use the optical cable, even if you dont have DTS decoder in the DVD player, will play DTS recording via the receiver's DTS decoder.

DVD+receiver can be configured 2 ways for you to get DTS

(1) DVD set to put out DTS : the receiver receives the default signal (the DVD-outputted DTS)

OR

(2) DVD set to put out RAW signal : the receiver is configured to select the DTS signal from the RAW signal - this configuration make use of your DVD player as mere transport - not the decoding feature.

Bro, i tried this using nextbase 656 dvd player (walang dts decoder) hooked it up to HK avr135 using optical out.  Wala pa ring DTS sir.  Tried it also sa Daewoo DVD player na walang DTS, wala rin.  When i tried naman sa pioneer dvd player ko, nagkaroon ng DTS.  So i guess kelangan ng DVD player na may DTS decoder maski may receiver.

Choose RAW output in the NEXTBASE DVD player : Configure your AVR to select/process the DTS signal

Guys i have 2 dvd player one is pioneer and the other one is generic only...

Question:
pwede ko ba ikabit sa hk235 ko ung isang dvd player(pioneer) ko sa dvd input using optical cable and yung generic dvd player ko sa cd input using coaxial cable ng receiver?

Thanks

Like I said, your generic can also connect to your receiver via optical, regardless of whether you use it for music or for HT. I would connect it via digital, knowing that the HK AVR would have a better decoding and DAC processor than a generic player.

Thanks sir... I use my coaxial cable nalang gagamitin ko since may extra coax ako...
Thanks alot sir...

sa 1st question - yes - but you have to configure both DVD (RAW output) and AVR (process DTS).

sa 2nd question - no - AVR can only decode digital signal, RCA is an analog signal - already decoded. thus, if your DVD is set to DTS and has no decoder, RCA will have no signal.

Tnx for the reply sir AV, sir Mat....
I'll run a test this Sat, will only hook the 2 B&Ws and see what happens...

I hope this doesn't need another repair...  :'(

Tnx again...

My fears were realised last Sat when I tested my AVR in stereo mode (by unhooking other channels)
It worked for a couple of mins... then suddenly it stopped and went on Standby mode... It didn't turn on again...

Decided to stop the test that it might cause a few more damages in the AVR.

Already called Beyond Innovations and they said that I have no choice but to bring it back to them...  :'( :'( :'(

Congrats!  :) Welcome to the club. Sayang, that should sound better with a 9.5.  But that's enough anyway.

first impression nila:Bigger sounding, instruments/effects are more separated, warmer yet more detailed than the 135.

hmm...pano kaya pag 240 naman? :)

AVR235 + Wharfedale 9.5 / 9.6 (6 ohm speakers , higher wattage avr)
or
AVR135 + Mission m34 (8 ohm speakers, lower wattage avr)

Salamat!

Danrd! Ikaw makakasagot nito.  Nasubukan mo na both HK 135 & 335. Ano masasabi mo sa difference?  :)

Bong, I suggest get the higher models for floorstanders. I have a friend who bought a 235 for his floorstanders and bitin daw.

Kung sa sound quality lang, almost the same ang amp section ng 135 & 235. But iba na ginamit nilang amp for 335 up. Kaya sya mas mahal kahit 5w lang difference. So you would hear a better sound quality only at 335 & up.

Yes I actually have pmed bong reg this. And I think he went for it and bought the Missions. I experienced the same scenario. I really felt the VERY BIG difference in upgrading speakers at 8ohms.

Sir matz, I just want to confirm lang po kasi my experience.  Kasi tama si pareng danrd.  I consulted him po kasi para sa upgrade ko.  Parang nag upgrade ako ng AVR nung nagpalit ako ng floorstanders from Euros8 towers (6 ohms) to mission m74i (8 ohms).

Kaya I'm wondering kung you were to choose po kung ibabase sa sound quality lang, 235 + 6 ohms Floorstanders versus 135 +8 ohms floorstanders, what would you choose?

Salamat po sa lahat ng magrereply!
