I upgraded mine last night using CP1251 (the latest) from this site
http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/dv610.php?player=DV-610AV&question=Firmwares. I was motivated to upgrade because of this (promised) features:
- Show all chars in USB mode.
- Long file names in USB(JPEG preview in USB mode is not turned off)
Been using the dv610 to play mp3s from flash drive a lot lately and I am really annoyed that long filenames are not being displayed, so I took a gamble. So far so good.
Note when upgrading:
Follow all the procedures in the site mentioned (e.g. cd label should be 'PIONEER'; the filename has to be all caps including BIN) BUT take note of the filename of the 'BIN' file. My first attempt did work because I found out that my firmwares version name is 'YJ
G8919A' (not YJ
CXXXA). I reckon file name should be the same so I just did a rename of the BIN file and all went good.
Good luck to those who will upgrade and remember that your warranty will be voided when you do this. If you ask me I think it is safe and worth it though.
