Just wanted to share.

Of course after watching for hours we need to give our eyes a break. So I guess there are advantages to a window in a room.

Just sharing the view outside our window.

I am curious about your ceiling. Nakapatong lang ang mga boards? They are loose? If so, they might vibrate when the subwoofer starts up. Have you tested the room with the sound system? If not, I suggest you do that before you finish the room.

Good luck!  :)

Haha yup. Maliwanag yung room during the day pero never umiinit kasi no direct sunlight. And at night very cool yung room.

Hi streetsmart, yes that is correct that is really how ceiling acoustic boards are installed. They are not exactly loose they are supported by the T-Runners. as long as the hangers, T-runners and acoustic boards are installed properly, no matter how strong the vibrations are they should not be affected.

The only way to remove the boards is to push them up. Aside from they act as sound absorbers thats the other trait I like about them. Since they are easy to remove it is much easier to troubleshoot ceiling wiring when needed.

Sorry I didn't take photos of how it looks like installed from the hidden view but a pic below is exactly how it looks like.

hmm, (sir streetsmart is correct) i think i've read somewhere someone using acoustical panels like that and they found that the panels would vibrate with the bass.

at the very least, maglalagay ako ng some sort of sapin sa T-runners para pag gumalaw (definite IMO) hindi maingay.

Hi mike no worries I've already installed ceiling like these on countless studios, recording rooms, music rooms etc :) as long as the runners are properly spaced and supported there shouldn't be a vibration problem :)

Although I'm aware of that vibration issue, it usually happens when the side supports are not setup correctly or there are gaps in between each runner :)

I made sure mine are really snugged fit also added rubber sealants for added support and old fabrics on some locations where the reflections are strongest :)

My only prob left is vibrations on the louver windows. Can't really do much with that because it's old. Hopefully I can replace that with a single windows instead but that would be far in the future. Hopefully, for the time being the supports I placed on the aluminum and the curtain would minimize that.

Oh yea I've already tried blasting 14 inch subs :) no issues :)

Oh yea not sure though it might be also dependent upon the type of paneling used. I had a choice between a clean type/line type and the usual dotted one. I found the clean and line type to be very reflective (Although it's a shame because they look much better). Also I'm not so sure if quality has something to do with it. I compared the panels I'm using to the generic ones you can buy at home depot stores, mine seems to be a whole lot denser and heavier.

This might be an interesting experiment. Will probably try to compare these one day and will post my findings :)

Looks like you've done your homework. The best thing is to test with really low and loud bass. If you've done that and there are no vibrations, you should be okay ... unless you upgrade your sub in the future to one that goes below 20 hz, in which case you'd have to re-test.

Yup have done that and thankfully no vibrations otherwise have to go back to the design and tear everything down.

No plans yet of getting a new sub, at least not for this room :) It's only an 8 sq m room so any bigger stuff than the ones now is overkill :)

THanks for your input streetsmart :)

Finally I bought a 3/4 HP aircon. I specifically chose Panasonic because it's the second more quiet window type airconditioner available. The quietest being Carrier, but they're kinda pricey.

Also, as a bonus Panasonic aircon is one of the most energy efficient air-conditioners.

Hi Guys,

I have just finished painting my room :) check it out on the first page :)

It looks good.  :)

Those jalousie windows are notoriously "leaky" in terms of both sound and air. It would be best to replace them in the future. Even a simple casement window would be much better. Meanwhile, some heavy drapes would be helpful.

agree with this suggestion.  those jalousies will be noisy as your sub goes to work.

Thanks for sharing updates jk1980 ;D Nice!

Is that the inverter type aircon already? Should be pretty efficient in terms of electricity consumption right?

Thanks in advance ;D

Hi streetsmart and Jazzy Jake sadly yea. I know that is my biggest problem and there is very little I can do about it now. How I wish I could replace the windows now or board them up.

only thing I can do now is put drapes on it. Speaking of which I'm currently looking for drapes. Would you guys know where I can find heavy thick drapes?

Thanks blackie, and yes they are inverter types :) They are very efficient, I think my receiver has more power consumption than my aircon haha.

Check out one of my biggest updates now on the first page.

But before that need your input guys.

What do you think of the poster configuration below?

Sorry I didn't bother to fix the poster pics.

What do you think of the poster configuration below?

I think that if you put posters right on top of your display, they will be distracting and depending on their color scheme, they may even adversely affect your perception of the colors on your display ... unless the posters are black.  ;D ;D

It might be a better idea to locate the posters elsewhere.  :)

i would not do that too.  i would encourage nothing else on the viewing wall other than your screen or panel.  you may also want to consider painting your viewing wall black.

cheers!

+1 and +1 the last two posts.

painting the front wall a dark color (black even, like sir streetsmart's setup) will give the impression of a clearer picture ... that's why most high end sony tv's have black borders while their low end tv's have light color borders.
